The general feeling il, even aMong,
friends .of the Government,;that to
attempt to carry on with the dimfa-
ished following which remained after
the last -general' election was, a fool-
ish move on the part of Mr. King.
The session has been ,almost fruit-
less and the revelations made during
the customs probe brought matters
to a climax. It it t6 be hoped wben
another election takes place that a
reasonably substantial majority will
result and that a general clean up will
take place, regardlest of who may
suffer. People are distinctly tired of
politics, the country *hula like to see
some statesmanship displayed on the
part of her rulers.

HURON OLD BOYS' PICNIC
(Crowded. out last week) - ,
The annual ,pitnic of the Huron
Old Boys' Association of Toronto, wit*
held in Area No. 1, Exhibition Par,
in that city, on Saturday afternoon
last, with the largest attendance in
the history of the AsseciatiOn.
"Bud" Fisher, of ...Mutt and Jeff The weather was all that could be
fame, is ibeing sued for divorcaby his desired, and the site selected for the
wife, who says her husband threwt games was probably- the most beautt-
her out of their apart -Mint. Perhapt ful in the City of Toronto. ,
All roads led to area No. 1 on Sat-
urday afternoon, and the crowds fol-
lowed them.
The games and races were all kee.h..
ly contested, large ;entries being,,
nearly every class.
There was timing competition be-
tween North and South Huron, with
the odds pretty tear even. In the
loch& tug 'of war, evidently the South
ladies unexpectedly made a strong
pull and stayed With it...-.
South Huron ca.n.boast of their tug
of war teams, but the North has it on
thein in baseball. -
• NOTES:
Mr.. L, J. Woman, one of Toronto's
best teachers, took a lively interest
in the proceedings.
Mrs. W. H. Ferguson, formerly of
Sunshine; was much missed. Mr.
Ferguson it seriously ill at her Lake
Shore home, and the sympathy of the
whole assodiation went out to her.
There were three medical men pre-
sent, and they pronounced tile Huron
bunch a healthy looking hnbch. Thei
were Drs. Wilford, Joynt and Calnp-
bell.
John R. Lyon was the first -arrival,
and he stayed until the lett dog was
shot.
A fair estimate of the number pre-
sent would be 500.
Vico President, Mrs. H. B. Stowe
selected, the prizes for the different
.games and made a good job of it.
As usual that good old standby, 3.
A, McLaren, was the heaviest con-
tributor. That coffee Was "A" No. 1,
J. A,
Mr. J. Hatnilton,,- of Oshawa, for.
merly. of Wingham, was present with
his family, and they enjoyed therm,
positions there despite the influx selves.
'Ile was just practising' some of the

of a professional practical joker ought

Itis a curious coincidence that at
-the filet of the session the business
of Parliament was carried on without
the premier, Mr. King having been
defeated and unable to take a seat in
the house :until his election, and the
'business of the closing of the session
is being carried on with the premier
absent, Mr. Meighan Ming unable to
,resume his seat until he •ivagain

speech that the continued success of

ed eloquent testimony to the thrifty
'habits of the people, At the end of
the year 12,182,000 had been invest-
ed by about 25,000 :ieople. At the
-tante time the consumption of spirits
was a quarter of a gallon per head
population, , as compared 'with
three-qum•ters of a gallon per head
before the war, and ,was about half.
the quantity consumed in Scotland,
and practically equal to the English
-rate of consumption.—Mail & Empire.

The Dairy Industry
Leads All Others
The Dairy Industry is one of
the oldest and most Im,portanc
in Canada. In point of valu4 11
ranks first, surpassing potb thu
Pulp and Paper and Fleur Mill-
ing Industries, whith are gener-
ally assumed to be the leaders.
The total production of tine
year of 1924 had a value of 300
million dollars. Of this produc-
tion 47% was used for making
butter, 15%, for Cheese, 38%
was milk sold ftCeh and factory
products.
There is ,every -reason to be-
lieve that The blairy Industry
will contiune to expand Its
growth will be quickened by out
indnstrial development, fOr by
'far the larger part el our .dairy
products are consumed 'by our
own urban market, the balance
finds a ready sale for export,
the demand being far greater,

Our ample resources in water
