Mr. Glen Ferguson, son of Mr. and
Mrs. James Ferguson, headed his
class at the recent examinations at
the .-Ontario Agricultural College,
Guelph. This is no new experience
far Glen and we congratulate hint,
Mr. George Thompson, eldest son
of Mr. and MTs. Harry J. Thompson,
was successful in taking honour's in
his first year at Wycliffe College.
Mr. Thompson has beeri engaged as
curate of the parish of St. Phillips
for the summer holiday season, under
the rector, .-the Rev. J. A, Robinson,
Intl Ims already entered upon his
duties. •
The death cccurred in London on
Sunday of Ernest E. Middleton, 'son
of the late George and Mts. Middle-
ton. The remains were brought home
for interment, the funeral, which was
private, taking place Tuesday after-
noon from the home of his brother,
Mr,,. W. H. Middleton.
By the death of Mrs. Acheson
widow of the late John Acheson,n,
hich occurred on Tuesday,April
at her residence, 291 'St. George
street, Toronto, there was removed
one who for the great part of her life
was a well-known and esteemed re-
sident of Goderich. The late Mr.
Acheson was for many years one of
the leading merchants of Goderich.
His death toolce-place about twenty
years ago and a few years later Mrs.
Acheson and her daughters reproved
to Toronto.: While a resident of
Goderich the deceased was anactive
member of North street Methodist
church. She leaves one son, John T.
Acheson, of Winnipeg, Band five
daughters: Mrs. (rev.) F. W. Hotline
rake, of Hamilton; Mrs. R. N. Merritt,
of Kitchener; Mrs, Chas: Lane, of
Detroit and the i,.. and
,J,auxa, of Toronte. A sister Miss
Jennie' Sneyd, of Winniyeg, ,also sur
vives: The • body. was brought to
Godes ch by the neon C. N. R. train
on April 22nd . accompanied by
MT. J. T.,Achesoli Rev. ir. W. Hollin-
rake and his son, Allan, and Mr. R. N.
Merritt. The interment was made in
Maitland cemetery, the burial service
being conducted by Rev, Mr. Rollin -
rake. pour nephews of the deceased
} Mr. BeJ. Acheson, of town, and
"Messrs. Fred Fdrd, Jas. Ford and
Geo. Crooks of(Minton, acted as pall-
bearers. The deceased was in her
eighty-ninth' year.—Goderiah Signal.

owing to ill -health to quit farming for'
a time: It Is hoped that freedom from
the toil of -the farm will assist him to
recover .his health, . Mr. Townshend
sold -his farm in the lith to his 'son
and did think of retiring, but he feels
too active for that, so is launching
out, again. His new farm will bring
hien to within a'.short distance of the
farm on which be was reared.
Mr. W. G Smyth left this week with
his daughter, Mac. (Dr.) Win-
thorpe, who has been visiting him
for the past couple of ,n?:oaths, for
the latter's home in Saskatoon,'
Sack. Mr, Smyth will spend the
summer at least in the west, where
both his daughters reside.
