On April 28th at the Clinton Ilos-
pital Mrs. Hugh Gilmore of the third
Concession of Stanley passed to the
Great Beyond.. For over e year Mrs.
Gilmour had been lighting the steady
advance of oxopthalmia goilore and
lirially oucctniibed to the disease. The
end came with unexpected suddenness
and n jortled relatives and; friends
were called, to realize that a loved one
had departed from their midst.
Mrs.' Gilmour's maiden name was
Margaret 'Isabella McEwen known to
all' as Madge. '7$he was, the only.
daughter of the late Duncan McEwen
and Margaret Mustard," and was',born
Feb. 27th, 1880, on the old homestead
where .her brother John A. McEwen,
now resides and practically all. her
`life 'was spent in the -beautiful tom-
muniity comprised by the second and
third concessions- of Stanley town -

the village on (Sunday evening.
Mr. Emmersen,Smith of the vil-
lage bad the tnisfortune last week
to lose a valuable, cow.
Mr. Gilbert Jarirott of 'the ;village,
who ,met with a rather painful acci-
dent last Week, is able to be about,
again.
Mr's: Gilmour was practically.a life-
long member of . the Union church,'
Brueefield, and took a deep interest iris
its work and activities. She upheld'
with rare consistency the ideals of
sacrifice and service and her life was
a living illustration of the spiritual
outlook and ethics of. her religion.
The funeral was -held at i\Ir. Gil--
nour's home on Saturday, May 1st.
The service was' conclected by two of
Mrs. Gilmour's cousins, `Rev C., A.

Prances Winter, delighted the aud-
ience with her readings, the musical
monologues being sympathetically ac-
companied by Dr. Ross Savauge,
Miss Eleanor Snider made an eiiic-
ient accompanist for all the choir
numbers: During an interval on the
program several of the choir girls
took up the collection, which amount-
ed 'to $30.00. This choir has been in-
vited to ropeat its program in the
United church at Eippen at an early'
date. Further announcement of this
will be given later. It' was a pleasure
to see so many music lovers over
front Seaforth and other places. Such
encouragement is invariably stimu-
lating to great effort.
Quite a consignment of perennial
roots arrived last, week and were duly
distributed ,. among the , members.
Word has come from' the shippers

GREYHOUND EXCURSION
The i{ed. Star Navigation Company
again announces the big, low fate an-
nual excursion on the Steamer Grey-
hound from Goderich to Detroit and
return, leaving Goderich en Tuesday,
June 8th at 9.20 am., arriving Detroit
