terprise, • "show 25 births, 22 mar-
riages and 2g3 deaths, ' Atthat rate it'

A subscription is being taken to
provide a memorial -for the man who'
first proposed daylight 'saving in
England and forced it through Par-
liament, the tale William Willett, M.P.
It is proposed to purchase it trait of
eighty-seven acres neat his rs horise and
turn it into a park and public play-
_ground. The • idea is, no doubt, to
_provide •srre'.place to spend"theee ex-

Soine towns are talking -of -reviving
the .curfew. Lueknow is- not doing
that but the village clerk was in-
structed at the last meeting to pre-
pare a bylaw forbidding young peo-
ple under the age of seventeen to at-
tend public derides in the town hall
unless accompanied by parents or
. guardian. If the bylaw is passed
this will be a condition on which the
hall can be procured for "a public
dance. The sehool board and teachers

"In the matter of smuggling," re-
marks the Orillia Packet, "the Canad-
ian Government is reaping what it
sowed. Canada has no business to af-
ford' facilities' to her citizens for
breaking the laws of a neighboring
nation. The export of liquor to the
United States should be forbidden."
But this opens up another question.
People in this province are licenced to
, manufacture liquor but are forbidden
to tell it in the province, except in
stated _quantities and under stated
conditions. What's to become of this
product of legally conducted business'
organizations? •If it -cannot be sold
• legally nor yet exported, its inanufac
-ture should be prohibited.
