•• The Provincial Go. :eat is go-
ing to act drastically al„eirlit those
• who abuse their privilege of pur-
..: chasing liquor, ana as a ,result many
may lose both liquor arid driving
licenses. The Liquor Control Board
• : and the Highways Board are to work
together to try and weed out those.
• whose abuse of privilege endangers
the safety of others.
These) departments may go the
whole length as far as .the ordinary
' citizen is concerned, and it is to be
'hoped no special favors will be
shown anyone. If people are bound
to drink liquor, then they should not
II ha allowed to drive cars. And no
one should complain if his license is
taken from him because he persists
in drinking. Few but will admit the
fact that the ,driving wheel of a
motor car is no place for a man who

of youth causeenough ,hazards on
the highways' without adding that of

Xenday's Kitchener - Daily Record
sets forth in a lengthy editorial some
of the injustices oftinicipal income

Georges Clemenseau, "Tiger of
France," the man . who did much to
win the world War, died in France.
on Sunday after several weeks of
suffering. Idet was in his eighty-
ninth year. 'He was buried in a'
quiet little weed, in a spot selected
by himself some years- ago, and. was
buried erect, as becomes 'a soldier,
and as his father was 'before him,
Sir Robert Bordon, -who) met Clem-,
onseau- when . the peace pact 'was
signed, said the other day when his
death was announced:
"In Georges Clemenceau, France
has lost one of her greatest sons. In
the hour , of her 'direct need, . his
indomitable spirit gave ths leader-
ship and ,the inspiration that ' were
essential to vietory. And when the
agony had passed, and' the victory
-had been won he was denied the
only guerdon ,he sought—further sm.-
vice to his eounia'Y• •
"At,the peace conference ten years
ago he was the most striking and
picturesque Personality. To him
France was all in all; for hen secur-
ity. 'lid was unceasingly vigilant to
the last ounce of his masterful abil-
ity and splendid courage.
"During the' conference, when the
assassin's bullet failed to find vital
spot, it was characteristic of Clem-
enceau to say: 'My enemies never
could shoot straight', but he carries
that bullet to his grave.'
"Canada owes him a special debt
of gratitucle, fer in truth his indul-
gence contributed in no small degree
to our place, at the conference table
and in the League of Nations. 'When
he learned that the dominions had
sent a million men to. the battle line -
he needed no further argument.
"In him 'basses a great 'World fig-
ure when fame and honor will re-
train undimmed as long as the war
agony remains -in the memory of tlie-
nations."
