from far. and near who were present:
Rev. `Arthur Sinclair was the'
preacher at the morning service and
took as his text, Psalm 26 and 8. "I
lraye loved the, habitation of Thy
house and the 'place where'thine
honor dwelleth" and preached a very
impressive and appropriate sermon.
A' choir of twenty voices, under' the
direction of Mr.' Fred Potter, ren-
dered two anthems very beautifully,
William Yea taking the tenor "solo. l
Mks, Lorne Jervis .and Mrs. Joy Sny-
der sang a duet: Miss Frances :Pot-
ter presided at the organ.
In the evening, Rev. E. A. Fear,
of Toronto, pastor of the Hohnes-
ville ,Circuit from 1893 to 1895,
preached a very pleasing sermon
from se text found in Proverbs and
also gave some interesting facts
about. the early years •of -the church.
The .-choir again tendered two an-
thems very pleasingly, the soprano
solo in' "Come Unto Me and Rest,"
being taken by Miss Elva Proctor.
The soprano and alto duet in
"Praise Jehovah's Name," was tak-
en by Miss Edith Herbert and Mrs.
Joy Snyder. Clarence Potter also
sang a solo.
Several letters were 'received from
those who could not be present on
this occasion, a lovely letter coming
from Miss Sybil Courtice, who is on
the' mission fields in Japan; one
from Mrs. M. E. Sheppard, formerly
Edythe Tebbutt, of Selah, Wash, and
one from Mr. J. B. Lobb of Galt, to
the Young People's Society, he being
unable to remain over for the rally
on Tuesday evening, A ntarconi
message was also received from Mr.
Fred C. Elford of Ottawa, who is
now in Greece in connection with
preparation for the World's Poultry
Conference to be held next year. All
these messages carried good wishes
on the happy occasion and mention
of happy memories of the old church.
On Sunday next, Rev. R. J. Mc-
Cormick, pastor of Zion Tabernacle,
Hamilton, a former pastor of Hol-
mesville church will preach both
morning and evening a male
choir under the direction of Mr. Fred
Potter will assist with the services,
Irvin Tebbutt will preside at the
organ. Rev. IVIr. McCormick organized
the first men's choir when he was
pastor here about fifteen years ago.
Two former 'ushers, Howard Tre-
wartha and Norman Holland, both of
Clinton, officiated last Sunday. Next
Sunday George Tebbutt and John
Jervis, two of the church's first ush-
ers will officiate.
On Tuesday evening the young
people held a very successful rally
and this, Thursday„ evening the Lad-
ies' Aid are putting on a play. On
Tuesday evening next the ladies are
also putting on a fowl suppers fol-
lowed by a programa by the Lakeside
Entertainers of Bayfield.
Mr. and Mrs, Lewis Tebbutt ac-
companied dry Misses Jennie and
Rosa Tebbutt of Clinton, spent Sun-
day at the hone of the latter's broth-
er, Harry Tebbutt.
Ma••'and Mrs. Donald Birch of De-
troit spent the week -end at the home
of the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs,
Jark Mulholland.
Ilfr. and Mrs. Douglas Ward of El-
mira, spent the week -end at the
home of the latter's. parents, Mr.
and Mrs. John Cud,;,ore. Earl Cud -
mere of Norwich also visited his par-
ents over the week -end.
Mrs. Phillips of Londesboro spent
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Alfred
Jervis.
Mrs, Wilfred Jervis returned last
week from a visit with relatives in
Zurich.
Richard Glidden of Port Albert
spent the week -end visiting relatives
about •the village.
Walter Osbaldeston of Stratford
spent the week -end with relatives
here.
Rev. Arthur Sinclair and Mrs. Sin-
clair of Hensall were visitors over
the week -end at the home of Mr. and
Mrs• W. H. Lobb.
Mr. Eldred Yeo, who has been ill
for the last three weeks, is improv-
ing slowly. •
Vey. E. A. Fear of Toronto has
been a guest at the hone of W.H.
and Mrs. Lobb.
Mrs. Henderson of Hensall was a
week -end guest at the home of her
parents, Mr. and Airs. W. H. Leith.
Mrs. Fred Elford of Ottawa is
visiting leer sister, Miss Emma Cour-
tice, and her father, A. J. Courtiee,
at the home of Mrs. S. T. Walter.
Rev. W. J. Herbert took the ser -
vise in the United Church, Hensall,
on Sunday morning as Rev. Arthur
Sinclair was hi charge of the anni-
versary service at •Ilohnpsville, In
the evening Rev, E. A. Fear was as-
sisted by Rev. Mr, Herbert.
Mrs. Beatrice Alcock and her
daughter, Mrs, Thomas Campbell,
of Brussels, were visitors in the vil-
lage for the anniversary "servic'es at
the United Church .
There was no senior League
meeting in the United Church on
Friday evening,, the time being
given over to choir practice.
The men's choir will practise Fri-
day evening in preparation for the
Golden Jubilee service next Sunday.
Mr. and .'Mfrs. Ezra Pickard of'
Clinton, accompanied by their daugh-
ter, Mrs.. Lashbrook, of Mitchell: at-
tended the anniversary services here
on Sunday and spent the day visit-
ing relatives in this vicinity..

suffering from heart', trouble, is im-

fair, in which nine schools in West.
Wawanosh and Ashfield participated,
"was held on Wednesday of last week
with much success. It was pronounc-
ed
ronouned to be the best school fair ever
held at St. Helen's. The fair opened
with a parade, when each of the nine
schools, : headed by pupils . displaying
the banner of their school, marched
to their places on the grounds. Drills
and exercises, directed by the teach-
ers were pleasingly presented.

The bride, < who wee given in, mar-

'satin and carried a shower bouquet
of Butterfly, eosos and lilies of the
valley.' Her only attendant was
Miss Margaret 1VicLaughlin, sister of,
the groom, who was attired. in rose
beige chiffon •and lace. The; groom
was supported by Mr, Cecil Cham-
neyi, and the wedding march; by Lo-
hengrin was rendered by Miss Alma
Blake of Dungannon. , Immediately
after a buffet luncheon the bride and
groom left on a ' there honeymoon
trip to Buffalo, Rochester and the
Thousand Islands. The bride trav-
elled in a -brown satin dress and hat
with 'snake' skin shoes and bag and
