Mr. and Mrs. James McCartney,
who have been spending the past
winter in Toronto; visited .at ,the
lioine o the former's uncle, Mr. Alex
Thompson, Sr., and with other
friends, 'last week and have now•
returned to their 'home in Moose Taw.
Nurse McTavish of Clinton is at
present waiting en her friend, Miss
Mk:Cully, who is quite ill. Her many
friends hope to ;hear of her speedy
recovery.
Mrs. D;. Tough and daughter have
completed' a quilt with 975 pieces in
it. The pattern is called "The Last
Children."
Very great interest has been mani-
fested by the congregation of. the
United church in the special services
conducted by Rev. T. A. Woods. of
Ottawa. for the past two weeks. Mr.
Woods has been engaged in evan-
gelistic work for the past 25, years
travelling from coast to coast .and
also in the old land. Large eongre-
gat'Lons assembled every night in
spite of the very bad conditions of
the roads. The services- will close
on Friday night, 'March 15th.
Londesboro
Owing to the inclemency of the
'weather last Thursday the W. L post-
t poned their meeting till Monday,
when the regular meeting was held
with the president in the chair, and
sixty members present There–yes a
great deal of business to be dont: A
Motion was passed to send $25,00 to
the V.iner's Relief Fund and also to
mak • a donation of $25.00 to the hall
board for wood. It is hoped that there
will be a good attendance at the
nursing and first aid course, which
commences on the 18th. The ladies
are looking forward to a good time
on Friday night. , Mrs.. E. Adams
gave a splendid paper on the "Pros
perity df Canada and Memories of
our Queen," and Mrs. Tamblyyn and
Mrs. Hall papers on "Child Train-
ing." All .papers were listened to
with great interest. Miss Mamie •
Shaddick also favored the gathering
with a reading. Lunch was served
in the basement the hostesses being,
Miss E. Lyon, Mgrs. J. D. Elsley, Mrs,
J. Crawford, Mrs. H. Shobbrook, Mrs.
W. Howatt and Airs. 11. Sundercock.
The medicine troop which came to
the village on Monday was not
very well patronized.
The friends of Mrs. James Pipe of
Goderich will be sorry to hear that
'she is very ill and is in the hospital
there.
We are pleased to state that Mrs.
Murdie Ross, who has been quite sick,
is improving nicely.
The family of Mt. Alex Stewart
plan to move to Stratford this week,
where Mr. Stewart has been working
fol some time. During their resi-,
denee here they have made many
friends and will be greatly missed
from the edimmunity. The women
friends of Mrs, Stewart 'presented
her with an electrio grill and a purse
of money as a slight token of regard

Miss Ida Stalker spent the week-
end at the home of Mr. and Mrs,
Chas. Watson.
Mr. James Roberton returned Sat-
urday after visiting sometime with
his sister, Mrs. T. X, Ruddle, in Win-
nipeg. i
Mrs. D. Mountain, Mrs. R. Yung-;
blutt and Mr. W. Mountain went to
Goderieh Tuesday; being called to the
bedside of the former's daughter,
Mirs. J. Pipe, who is in a very serious'
eendition,
Mit, Hold Johnston of London
spent the week -end at his home here.
Rev. 3. Abeiy is spending some
time in Toronto, where he is under-
going treatment for, his eyes. The
Rev. A. A. Holmes of Clinton took
charge of, his work on Sunday.
Mrs. Mellen returned to her home,
in Vineland Saturday after spending
some time with Mrs. Jas. Campbell.
Miss Mary Quinn o'f Blyth has been
visiting her cousin, Miss Mary Cart-
wright. °
London Road
The meeting of the London Road
Community Club will be held at the
home of Mrs. Wili Moffatt on Wed-
nesday, March 27th, instead of the
20th as anonunced, owing to illness.
Some sneak thief or thieves enter-
ed the Vacant home of Mra. (Dr.)
Butler near , Clinton and removed
several articles of furniture, dishes,
etc,
Tuckersmitn Township
The March, meeting of the Tucker -
smith Ladies Club was held at the
home of Mrs. Vern Terryberry on
Wednesday; *rah, 6th:' Rall 'call„
was answered with, an Irish joke and
•a paper on St. Patrick was given' by
Mrs. F. Pepper. Several items of in-
terest on the School of Marketing
were discussed' and sewing done for
somepeter and unfortunate people in
Northern Ontario. several new
members were added to the list and
several visitors were present.
The April meeting will be held on
Wednesday,' April 10th, at the home
of Mrs. G. R: Fear. Roll call' to be
answered by "Hot bed" ,suggestions,

Mrs.' Waiter Moffat and Lois, vis-
ited her.. mother, Mrs. Fisher of Hen-
sel', a few days this week.
Mr. and Mrs. James'. McCartney of
Tuxford, Sask., who are: spending the
winter in Toronto, visited his uncle,
Mr. Alex. Thdmson,, and other friends
fora few days last week.
During the severe wind storm last
Wednesday night, Mir. Goldie Graham
had his wind: -mill blown down.
Mx. E. Keyes, who bought the Mc-
Lean farm in Tuckersmith is now
busy moving.
Mr. James Bristol has been the
cheat of lilir. Samuel Rohner the past
week.
Miss Graco• Churchill, who has been
nursing Doris,' infant daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Penhale, has
returned to Clinton-.

Grove is at present+the guest of her
sister, Mrs. Harold Penhale,

Township's Holstein breeders, has sold
his herd ''sire "Eche Paul Wayne,
to Henry Steckle of Zurich. This
sire is 3 years old and three of his
grand prrace back to that
great 41 lb.arents cowt, '"May echo 'Syl-
via." Mr, Sparks has .purchased
from X. M. Cline & Son of Belmont
their herd sire, Sylvia Car Barn Pon-
tiae. Heis seven years •old and.
weighs 2500 lbs. His seven nearest
dams have an average record of 33.25
lbs. butter in 7 days with 'an average
milk test of 4.72 per cent fat.
WINGHAM{: The young. pepple
of the Westminster rGuild of St.
Andrew's Presbyterian church en-
tertained the young people of the
A. Y. P.A. of St. Paul's Anglican
church on Monday evening. There
was a very large attendance and a
splendid program, after which re-
freshments were served.
