14,000,000 TREES FOR DISPOSAL
IN 1929.
Readers of The News -Record will
be interested in knowing that the
Ontario' Government, through the
Ontario- Forestry Branch, is contin-
uing. Its' offer of free trees ,.for all
reaidents •in the Province who wish
to plant.•up waste areas on their
farms', br -to establish a windbreak.
For some time now this programme
has been 'carried on with:increasing
interest on the part of landowners
until last year nearly 5,000 persons
accepted trees from the Government
With the steady increase in ap-
plicants .the number - of . trees has
necessarily increased until this year
there are 14,000,000 trees' available
for the various reforestation pro-

try Branch.
It should be made clear that all
such trees' are sent .out for the two
purposes mentioned abeIve and are
not intended for decorative work
such as lawn and hedge planting or
for planting along fe,ncm.
Each resident of the Province -can
get 4,000 trees each year by paying
the express from the nearest Gov-
ernment nursery which are situated
Norfellt, Simcoe, Durharti, Prince
Edward and Grenville counties. Or,
if a person prefers to do so, he may
cell and get the trees at the nursery.
- Ems 01110 aeses men are planting
more than the free allotment each
Year and for such work- additional
quantities are supplied at $4.00 per
thonsarid. ,
It may be. of interest to know that
last year 131 people in Huron county
rceived trees,' who, all told; planted
