Miss Mary Hovey spent the week -end with her brother in Ingersoll. • Mrs. McGeorge of Toronto is visiting her sister, Mrs. E. W. Morrison, Mrs. llifuir of Montreal has been vis- iting at the home of her brother, Dr. J. W Shaw. Mr. T. A. Greig returned Monday after spending the past couple of months in Toronto. Mrs. R. Holmes and her daughter, Mrs. Wheaton, of Toronto are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. II. S. Chant Mrs. H. B. Combo and Miss Barry Combe left this week on a trip to Bermuda. They -will be absent two or 'three weeks. Messrs. G. L. Hanley and G. M. Evans attended the Firestone banquet, held in the Hotel London, London, on Monday evening. Mr. 1 H. Chant of Unionville spent the week -end at the home of his brother, Mr. H. R. Chant. Mr. Chant, who has been In the hospital for a fortnight or so, returned home yesterday, His condition I Seems somewhat -improved, his friends are glad to know. Mr. H. J. Aitken of Neelin, Man., who brought a car of horses from the west a few weeks ago and dis- posed of them very satisfactorily, left for home on Tuesday. Mr, Aitken and his brother, known at. home as Aitken Bros., a few years ago purchased the homestead farm of one -section of land in Manitoba front Mr. Robt J. Fisher, - hlJ street, Clinton, Wile Wit ieturned to Clinton. Mr. Aitken is a native of the west, this being his first visit to Ontario. 14,000,000 TREES FOR DISPOSAL IN 1929. Readers of The News -Record will be interested in knowing that the Ontario' Government, through the Ontario- Forestry Branch, is contin- uing. Its' offer of free trees ,.for all reaidents •in the Province who wish to plant.•up waste areas on their farms', br -to establish a windbreak. For some time now this programme has been 'carried on with:increasing interest on the part of landowners until last year nearly 5,000 persons accepted trees from the Government With the steady increase in ap- plicants .the number - of . trees has necessarily increased until this year there are 14,000,000 trees' available for the various reforestation pro- jects being carried ,on by the Fores- try Branch. It should be made clear that all such trees' are sent .out for the two purposes mentioned abeIve and are not intended for decorative work such as lawn and hedge planting or for planting along fe,ncm. Each resident of the Province -can get 4,000 trees each year by paying the express from the nearest Gov- ernment nursery which are situated Norfellt, Simcoe, Durharti, Prince Edward and Grenville counties. CHANGE IN METHOD OF DOING BUSINESS W. T. O'Neil Estate has sold the delivery end of their business to Mr. L. Cree, who has been employed with them for some time.
