to is holidaying at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. H. Mogridge.
Mr. J. Tyndall of Windsor• attended
the funeral of his uncle the late John
Hoare.
Quite . a number of people in and
around the village are' laid up with
colds` and influenza this past week;
but hope to see them out again be-
fore long.
In Clinton hospital on Tuesday
morning' Mr, John . Hoare passed
away in his seventy-fifth year. '.He'
had 'gone there some three weeks
previously for treatment, and despite
medical care, his death followed an
operation. Ile was a member of
the United church and in former
years a Mbthodist, where for many
years lie acted as choir leader. A
sister, Miss Mary, at home and a
brother, C. 'Hoare, of Clinton survive
him. a
The funeral was held on Thursday
last: front his lateresidenceto West-
field cemetery. Rev..V7. R. Alp .coni-
ducted the services. The, sympathy.
of the • community is extended to
!those bereaved.

lough of Toronto' were here attend-
ing their uncle's funeral.

urn Public school held, a Christmas
concert in:thh hall on;Thursday eve-
ning last week, which was latgeIy
atteneled and: a decided success. It
was unanimously carried to put an-

dwelling wired` for hydro during last

work, Mr. Johnston just finished a
job of wiring and installing a light-
ing plant for a 'man at Lucknow the
first of last week.

Mrs. E, Bell .received word Satur-
day evening of .the death of Iter sis-
ter-in-law, Mrs. Dr. Hanlyn of De-
troit, who was formerly Miss H. Her-
rington, but had been a resident of
Detroit for 40 years. Her husband
who was one of the leading doctors
in the eity died -9 years' ago.
Miss Lauds. Young is spending the
holidays with London and Chatham
friends, •
The Christmas trees of both
churches had to be postponed on ac-
count of so much sickness and flu.

visiting her mother, Mrs. Ross, and
also other relatives,'
Mhs. (Rev.) Johnson is visiting her
sister, Miss Maud Fair, in Toronto.
