mas holidays.
Mr. Robert Middleton of the College
of Pharmacy, Toronto, is spending
the Christmas vacation, with his
parents, Sheriff and Mrs. Middle-
ton, Sunnyside Farni.
Mrs. A. D. Beaton and Holmes Bea-
ton are leaving to spend Christmas
and expect to remain a.couple of
months, with the fornter's daugh-
ters in Toronto. Mrs. Egan is stay-
, ing ,for the time being with Mr.
and Mrs. E. G. Saville,
Mrs. Harry 1lfarah and her cousin,
Mrs. F. Thompson of Detroit are
with the fornier's brother and sis-
ters, Mr. G. N. and Misses Mae
and Bettie Davies, having been
spmmoned by the death of Mrs.
Marsh's father, the late George
Davies.
WEST WAWANOSH

Last Friday evening a happy event
took place at the home of Mr, and
Mrs. Charles Hallam, West Wawa-
nosh,when a large number of friends
and neighbors gathered to extend fel-
icitations en their recent marriage
and a warm welcome to Mrs. Hallam,
who has comeas a bride„ into this
community.: She was formerly Miss
Viola Johnston, a daughter.lof Mrs.
George` Johnston,,.of Summerhill, and
included in the gathering of Friday:
night were a number of friends from
Hallett, the party numbering about
125 or • 130.•. A very -pleasant' time
was spent in games and other social
amusements and lunch was served.
It was about 3.80 in the morning be-
fore the festivities ceased. ' A fea-'
ture of the evening was the presen
tation of a number of gifts from the
friends, including chairs, a table,
blankets, curtains, -etc., the idea -:be-
ing to supply most of the furnishings
of one room. The following address
was read by 'hiss .Nina Johnston:
"Dear Mr. and Mrs. Ilallain:' We, a
few of your friends and neighbors,
have met together to -night to extend
our congratulations lin the important
step you have so recently taken and
to wish you a life full 02 happiness
together. We extend, to MrS. I-lailain
a warm welcome to this community
and have no donbt she will quickly
make as many new friends amongst
Us as she has left old, ones in the
comm,unity, from which she has
come.' As a slight token of our good
wishes and high regard for you both
and as a memento of this occasion we
ask you to accept .these gifts. We
trust you will enjoy their use for

place at her home on the 5th . con-
cession of Wast Wawanosh cin Moo-
dily of one of the oldest residents of
this district, in the person of Mrs..
Peter McCann, in her 93rd year.
The cleceatsed was born on the 6th
concessions of 'God erieh Township on
March 4, 1836, being one of a family
of seven .sons and daughters. of MT.
and Mrs. `]somas Tierney, she being
,the last 'surviving 'member of the
family. Cin June 13, 1861, she was
married to Peter .McCann, whose
death occtirred on,Auguts'12, 1902.
Her parents, who resided with her in
their declining years,; also attained to
a great age her father having lived
to be 92 Mid her mother 37..„,A fam-

ily of six 'children were born to Mr.
and Mas .McCann, who areas fol.

deceased. 'There are 19 grandchildren
