home to undergo an operation for
the removal of her tonsils, had so
far recovered as to be able to re
turn to Toronto on. Saturday.
Mr. and 'Mrs. J. F. Reynolds, who
have been spending a few months
in their cottage, Albert sheet,: Clin-
ton, left the end of the week for
Detroit to spend the winter with
their son.

Smith's Hill school fair on Friday,
A happy event took place at the
home of Mr, and Mrs. T. H. Mog
ridge, at noon on Wednesday, Sept.
12th, when their younger daughter,
Edith Annie, was united"in marriage
to Mr. James Gormley Thompson, son
of Mr, and Mrs, W. J. Thompson also
of Auburn. The eerem'ony was per-
formed -by Rev. W. R, Alp. The
bride was charmingly attired in
white georgette, with veil and carried
a bouquet of Butterfly roses and
maiden hair fern, There were no at-
tendants. .Miss Winnie Marsh play-
ed phe
lay-ed,the wedding march and during the
signing of the register Mrs. Alp sang
"0 Promise Me," Afterwards the
guests, numbering about forty, sat
down to a sumptuous wedding re-
past. The house decoration was of
sweet peas and gladioli. Later the
young couple left by motor for Tor-
onto. The bride's going away cos-
tume was of sand and brown, with
fox .fur, and hat to match. Many
beautiful gifts testified to the esteem
which thebride and groom are held.
Mite and Ates. Thompson will make
their home in Toronto and they have
the good wishes of a host of friends-
for their -wedded life,
•AAmong,the guests at the wedding
were Mr. and Mrs. 305. Thompson of
Mitchell and Mr. and Mrs. T. Men -
nog and'daughter'of London.
On the •evening before the wedding
the young people' •of the eonununity
gathered at the home of the bride and
presented her with a substantial gift
of money, an address being read by
Miss Verna Rutledge, while the pro -
dentition was made - by Miss Dor-
othy Anderson.,

their ' "Diamond Jubilee" Services
Sunday,' Sept. 23rd. Afternoon ser-

The speakers will be Rev. T. W. Char-
lesworth'. of Ldudon and the pastor,:
Rev. R. B. Gracie. Members of the
Scotch choir of Toronto will render
the music at both services; assisted
by the • choir, On Monday evening a
sacred concert will be given in the
church, the program to be provided
by members of` the Scotch Choir and
local talent.

Schoenhals motored to Sarnia last
week -end andon their return were

who will make a visit in town.
