Bailin, N. Carolina, to spend his va-

calf, who was visiting her son, accom-

been engaged as principal of the

turned to Toronto on Saturday by

church.' Rev. H. II. Savage of First
Baptist church, Pontiac, Mich., *as

unfolded the many: striking charact-
eristics in :the life of Joseph ,and ap-
plying very aptly to -the needs .of the
day. At the close of the sermon sev-
eral expressed'their desire to yield up
their lives to Christ, and others re-
sponded to appeal for a re -dedication
of their lives to Christian. service.
Rey Mr. Elliott of Goderich led in
prayer, the choir sang a very suitable
anthem. The male quartette also gave
a number. The service was specially
fitting as it was the re -opening after
decoration, The decoratinig was the
gift to the congregation of Mrs. Wal-
ter Bong. The .choir.. loft was i.e.-
modelled the work all being done free
by members of 'the congregation.
Mrs..A. C. Brandon was called to
Wiingham last week owing to the ser-
ions illness of her another, Mrs. Bloom
field, who passed to rest on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Brandon and fam-
ily returned on Tuesday evening after
having attended the funeral.
Dr. and Mrs. Newton -Brady were
called to Sarnia on Wednesday to the
bedside of the latter's father, Mr. D.
McDonald, who died on Wednesday
evening afterr but a days illness. The
funeral was field on Saturday, inter-
ment being made in Maitland cemet-
ery, Goderich,
Mrs. D. McDonald,Mr. Brough Mc-
Donald of Sarnia and Mr. Redmond
McDonald of Ottawa visited with Dr.
and Mrs. Newton -Brady on Saturday

Saturday. They were accompanied
by Miss Delia.Findlay of Holmesville,
who will spend'some time with them.
GODERICH: Mrs. R. Thompson,
Goderich, announces the engagement
of her daughter, lVfildred, to Mr. Jos-
eph Young, of Detroit, son of Mr, Mid
Mrs. Gordon Young, of Auburn. The
marriage to take place early'in' Sep-
tember.
