PETER COLE
At her home in the Bayfield line,
r.:Goderieh township, on May 22nd, just
:.as a new day dawned, there enterou
into restthe spirit of Mary Peck, be.
:loved wife of Peter Cole, and daughter
of the late John and. Nancy Peck of
Stanley township. Mrs. Coleretiree
as usual and rested well all nigh
then, without waking here, she open
her spiritual eyes upon the_large life for which she was so well peeper
,
Deceased was born at '%Tiagara on
.Sept.,2lst, 1849, later coming to. Stan
ley township with her parents, where
she continued to reside until her
.marriage to her now sorely bereft
husband. Since her marriage she
has lived in' the home in which her
.husband was born.
Four years ago Mr. and Mrs. Cole
celebrated their Golden wedding an-
t niversary at the home of their son, J.
Percy.. Cole, in Tuckersmith. Mrs:
• Cole was never'rugged, having 'suf-
•fered from heart -trouble for years,
' but her wonderful spirit, indominat.
able will and deep faith sustainednher
through all the exigencies of her long
and useful life, during which she won
'the esteem and love of a host of
friends, endearing herself to all with
whom she came in contact. She was
a" life-long member of the Methodist
• Church and while health and strength
permitted was faithful in her atten-
.dance at church services, and in her
duty to her church, her home being
' known as "the Minister's' Stopping
• place" so long.as Cole's church con
• tinued to function. She will be most
keenly missed in her own home, where
she reigned with unfailing hospitality
-for so many years. Mrs. Cole leaves
•to mourn her loss, beside her sorrow-
ing husband, a family of four sons
and one daughter, (two- daughters
'having predeceased her in their infan.

those of hey little daughters,until the

Mr. and Mee. Percy Johnston, who
,wet•e hi a 'motor accident down near
Hamilton while on thein wedding trip
and were badly shaken up and received
some cats and bruises, are now al+
most wholly recovered. Their car
was badly smashed ..__and they were
lucky to escape with so little injury,
The death occurred in St. Joseph's
hospital, London, on Tuesday of .Rob-
-ert McKinley of the Goshen line,
three weeks after undergoing an op-
eration. Mr. McKinley had been in
rather poor' health all winter ,and 11
was hoped an operation would benefit
hirn, but he failed to-rallyrom the
effects of it. He is survived'' by his
wife, one son and one daughter, Mar-
• garet and Campbell, Also two sisters,
Mrs. William Clark of Stanley and
-Mrs. Becker of the'W,est. The fun-
taltake will place 'this afternoon.
