But 'Not

This interesting old prayer in
verse, the authorship of which is
unknown, is believed to date from
the eighteenth century., _,.
Give me a good digestion, Lord, and
also something „to digest.
Give me a healthy body, Lord, with
'sense enough to keep/it at it's
best.
Give me a healthy mind, good Lord,
to keep the good and pure in
sight,
Which,. seeing sin, is not appalled,
but finds a way tor set it right.
Give, me a mind that is not bound,
that does not:whimper, whine or.
sigh.
Don't let .me. Worry overmuch about
the fussy thing called I.
Give me a sense of humor; Lord;
give me the graced o see a joke.
To. get some happiness out of life and
pass it on to other folk _
A, man of my acquaintance remark-
ed the other day thathe thought ev-
eryman should make his will,' while
he is in h,alth ,and has his -wits About
him. He is a man with a young fam-
ily, and the circumstances leading up
to it so that the question could be
asked without seeming impertenance
I asked: "Have= you your : will
made?" "Indeed, I have," was • the
ready answer. "I made it several`
years ago, and my wifri is soleex-
ecutor and can•do whatever she pleas-
es with the property after I'm dead,"
This gave me another opportunity, SO
I asked: "And do -you talk over your
business with your wife, are you sure
she could manage- if she should be
left in sole charge?" "Yes," he ans-
wered. "She could manage as well as
I can. We talk. over every important
business transaetidn. 'I don't bother.
about the way she Tuns the house,'
that's her business. But we discuss
every business deal and she under-
stands my business. as well as I do.
I'm not a bit afraid but that the could
manage perfectly." Now I must con-
fess, I liked that attitude on the part
of this husband. It looked like giving
the wife a fair deal. But, someone
may say, this woman may be an ex-
ception. She may have especial tal.
ent that way. No, I don't suppose she
has, only she ]las a husband who
gives her a chance to show what she
can do.
The day should ,have gassed, if it
has not done so, but I fear that it has•
not wholly passed, when women are
kept in ignorance of the financial cir-
cumstances of the husband and made
to beg for every dollar needed in run-
ning the household.
Women, some of them, have been
blamed for extravagance, for not as-
Recently one 'ounce of Alfalfa seed was found to contain
approximately 900 weed seeds, which would have resulted
in the distribution of almost a million weeds to every acre
sown.
And such examples as this are not uncommon. Forestall the
danger of ruined crops now! Take every precaution in selec-
ting and cleaning your seed—because on them principally
depends the ultimate success of your crops.
Under the Weed Control Act the destruction of noxious
weeds is compulsory. Let us co-operate to end this menace.

But if a woman knows nothing a-

matters. Many women, of course,
have had some business training be-
fore marriage and most rural -women
have commercial interests of their
own which serve to train them in bus-
iness ways, which is one of the advan-
tages of rural life, but every woman
should have enough practice in the
handling of money to give her a
feeling of familiarity with business
life. It might bd well to start with
the children, train them up to •handle
money wisely and carefully. The
training will stand them in good stead
when they are older, whether boys
or girls. •
