was over for the week -end..
Mrs,'B. Cole was called to Detroit
on Friday last owing to the illness
of her sister.
Miss Akam spent a few days over
the week -end as the guest of Tavi-
stock relatives.
Mrs. J. Walker, who has been in
Seaforth for a few weeks nursing
her aunt, has returned home.
Mr..and Mrs. Johri A. Rath spent
the weekend with friends in
Dundalk, their -former 'home town,
Miss Lottie Simian has returned af-
ter spending a week as the guest
of her brother and his wife at
Kankakee, Ili.
Mrs.• Calton, who has been spending
the winter with her sister in Strat-
:ford, returned Last week -end to
her home, in Clinton.
Mrs. Milton Cook and little daugh-
ter, Betty, of Sarnia have been
visiting the lady's parents, Mr,
and Mrs. J. Schoenl:ale of town.
itIr, W. J, Nediger motored to To-
ronto yesterday and brought back
Rev. A. A. and Mrs. Holmes, who
have been spending the winter in
Toronto. •

ed over from llarriston on Sunday
and were accompanied by Mrs.
Herman, Sr., who had been spend-
ing some months with her daugh-
ter in Harriston.
Mr. 1'. Piliman, who has beet'
spending several -summers in
Clinton and who goes to Wood-
stock for the winter, has returned
to Clinton for the summer months
and is glad to meet with old
friends again,
Mr. Jacob Taylor of Toronto has
been in town this week. Mr. Tay-
lor, who with his wife and daugh-
ter has spent. the winter in Flor-
ida, has but recently returned to
Toronto. Mr, Taylor and his
daughter are enthusiastic bowlers
and take part in various tourna-
nients during the season. Mr. Tay-
lor was one of the rink which won
the United States silver cup, a 5600
sterling silver cup, and he says the
Orlando club, of which he was a
member had won ail the district
cups the past season, having no
fewer than seven, besides the big
U.S.A. cup, on exhibition in their
club house,

been visiting her sister for the past
three months, returned to Detroit
on Sunday.
Mr, and Mrs. Fred Ritchie and
littIe Muriel returned to their home
in Elmvale on Monday after having
spent a couple of days with Mrs.

COLBORNE
Mr. Maedei, whose death occurred
April 25th, was a well-known and es-
teemed resident of this township,
having resided here since he was fif-
teen years of age, coming at that
time from Germany, He was some
years engaged in the tanning busi-
ness and the* on account of ill
health he turned to farming activi-
ties, two miles east of Benmiller on
the second concession of Colborne. Ile
was a regular attendant at church
service till the last two or three
years when he was needed in sick-
ness by his bereaved widow. Though
he was blind for the last eleven
years he occupied himself with many
duties within his own lot as well as
getting the mail- from the corner.
lie was a Reformer in politics and
member of the Forrester's and also of
the Workmen. Over nine years ago
the family moved -to the present re-
sidence where his daughter, Amanda,
took over the central work on Muni-
cipal Telephone System.. A large
number atttnded his burial service at
the cemetery, the service at the
house being private owing to Mrs.
MaedePs illness.
The funeral throughout was taken
by Rev. B. Snell, There were many
floral tokens sent by friends ex-
pressing in a small way their sym-
pathy to the bereaved family. Be-
sides the daughter there are four
sons, Charles of Essex; Alex, of
Saskatchewan; Peal of Elora, Ont.,
and Herman of Waterdown, Ont,
The pallbearers were two brothers,
two sons and two grandsons, nam-
ely: Arthur of Detroit; Fred of Mun-
