Brown came up from Woodstock for the funeral of her brother, Mr. Ogle" Cooper, Dr. and Mrs. W. Holloway of Peter- boro visited with Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Holloway last week. Mr. and Mrs. E. Wendorf and babe visited on Sunday with Mrs. Wen- dorf's parents, in Chesley. Miss Gwen Holmes of Cobourg spent the week -end with her parents, Rev. A. A. and Mrs. Holmes. Mr. and Mrs. James, Livermore vis- ited over the week -end at London, Aylmer, Tillsonburg and Courtland. Mr. and Mrs, Fred Ford spent Sun- day last as the guests of 1MIr. and Mrs. G. R. Patterson of Guelph, formerly of Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Johnson and sons, Keith and Grant, of Chatham spent Sunday as the guests of Mr. and Mrs, S. McDonald, Mr, and Mss, W. Wilson motored up to Paisley on Sunday and had the experience of having to be hauled out of a snowdrift in October. Mr. and Mas. 0. L. Cantelon is in Toronto this week, Last week Mr. Cantelon took a trip as far east as Mon- treal, returning Sunday, He was looking up markets for; his apples. For a man over the eighty nark Mr. Cantelon 'does a lot of trip- ping about. A $10,000 ENDOWMENT FOR THE GODERICH HOSPITAL A handsome donation from Mrs, Miner, of Chazy, N.Y., of $10,000 to form an endowment for the Goderich hospital waits only the execution and receipt of the papers.. The money is to be invested and the interest used first in the upkeep of the Miner ward in the hospital and the balance for general hospital purposes. It attpears that one Lestef Green found a. setting of hen's eggs in a block of ice. He cat out the eggs and put them in a pan on top of his furnace to thaw out. Later an when he went to shake the furnace he discovered eight Leghorn chicks hatched out.
