regret to hear that'he had the mis-
fortune to fall, and break his leg and
is now in St. Joseph's Hospital,' Lon-
don, taking treatment. -
There passed away on Wednesday
night at the hoine of his brother -in -
'law, John 1VIcEwen of the Bayfield
`Road, near Brucefield, John James
Pearson, in his seventy-third year`.
'Mr. Pearson was born February 15,
1855, in Stanley Township. His
parents were William Pearson and
Mary Plews, neither of whom is now
living. The former came. out from
England in 1846, lived for a short
time at Sand Hill, - near Toronto
where he was married in 1851 and
soon after came to this section. The
deceased had been confined to bed
for three weeks, In religion he was
a Presbyterial and. -had been iden-
tified with the Presbyterian Church
iu Clinton° until a year ago, when he
left the farm in Stanley Township
and removed' to Brudefie]d. He was
'married in 1887 to Catherine McEw-
en who survives him. Other sur-
• viving relatives are two daughters:
Irene (Mrs. Walter Holmes) of Ed-
monton, Alta., and Miss Myrtle at;
hone; one brother, . Mr. Robert
Pearson of Goderich Township;
four grand children and a number
of nephews and nieces.
Mr. Pearson was of a quiet re-
tiring disposition.and did not take an
active interest in municipal affairs.
He was not a member of any frater-
nal societies, rather preferring the'
quiet home life, Interment took
place in 'Baird's Cemetery in Stanley
' Townslhip on Saturday at 2 pen,
Rev. C. E. Dougan of Clinton Pres-
byterian .Church conducting the ser-
vices at the home and graveside. The
nallhearers were John Jervis, Ed.
Glen, R. Trick, Will McEwen, J.
Trines, James Jackson.
From a distance those who were
present for the funeral' were: Me.
Alex. efeEwen, Cleveland, Ohio; Mr.
and Mrs. john McDougall, Mrs, Shar-
man Hubbard. Mrs. IIugh McDou-
gall and son, Malcolm, alleof Blen-
heim; Mr. James Wylie and son,
Howard, 'Mr. John McBurney and
daughter, Mrs. Farris and 13 rs. Mar-
tin, all of Wroxeter, Ont.

inspiring and profitable seninon to a
large congregation last Sabbath. The
music rendered by the choir was
much appreciated. The evening ser-
vice was taken by the members of
the Young People's Society, those
taking part did credit to 'themselves.
We welcome the opportunity that
will allow them to take "charge again.
