Miss Newman of Hamilton has been visiting her sister, Mrs. E Pater- son. Miss Mary Andrews is visiting Rev. D. E. and Mrs. Foster in Strat- ford. Messrs. T. Hawkins and W. H. Hell, yar spent Wednesday at the Lon- don Fair. Miss Ruth Scott of the Deaconess Home, Toronto, is visiting Miss Madeline Hawkins this week. Miss Ruth Cartwright has returned to Toronto after spending a week's vacation at her home in town. Miss Harriet Hawkins, Reg. N., Stratford, spent the week -end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Hawkins. Miss Freda Schoenhals returned Monday after a pleasant visit with her sister, Mrs. W. E. O'Neil of Halifax, N.S. Capt. F. F. Gillies was the guest of Magistrate S. J. Andrews' and Mr. and Mrs. F. VanEgmond while in town last week. Mrs. J. T. Crich and her sister. Mrs. D. Wright of the Base line, are visiting friends in and around Hensall this week. Mr. Minoan Cartwright who had been spending a few days in Toronto, spent the week -end at his home in town before returning to Brus- sels. Miss F. E. Burke, Mr. and Mrs. Smithson and Misses Bertha and Winnie Smithson of St. Thomas spent Sunday as the guests of Miss Hattie Courtice. Miss Queenie Clarke of London was the guest of Miss Harriet Hawkins over the week -end. Miss Clarke sang a couple of solos in St. Paul's -church on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Manning and little sons left Monday for Toronto where they intend making their home. Clinton firends are sorry to lose this young couple from Clin- ton. Mr. and Mrs. M. E. McFadden of :Cookstown and Miss Beatrice Me- Fadden of Alliston have been spending a few days with relatives in Clinton. Mrs. J. Cornish, who had been visiting a few weeks with her daughter, Mrs. McFadden in Cookstown, returned with them Mrs. George Rumball and .her daugh- ter, Mrs. Hickson and son and daughter, Mr John Hickson, and Miss Josephine Hickson of Flint. Rumball is remaining for a longer visit with Miss Rudd. GODERICH TOWNSHIP Anniversary services will be held in Ebenezer' church on Sunday, Sept. 17th, with a Sunday school rally at half past two, to which all will be made welcome, and preaching service at half -past seven. The Rev. J. W. Johnson of Crediton, a former pas- tor, will be at both services, speak- ing in the afternoon and preaching in ♦he evening. Huron Tea- chers' Association report that the executives of the east and west exe- cutives met in Goderich and arrang- ed for a joint convention to be held in Goderich on the Thursday and Friday preceding Thanksgiving, The last joint meeting of the Huron tea- chers was held 28 years ago in Clin- ton in 1005. Dr. John Field, of East Huron, and Elinor C. Beacom, BA., of West Huron, are the inspectors who will be in charge. An atten, dance of 200 is anticipated.
