Mrs. George Taylor and Miss Doris
have returned after spending a
week with friends at Bruce Beach.
Mrs. George Sanderson and two chil-
dren of Goderich have been the
guests of Mr. and Mrs. 3. Rands,
Jr.
Master Benson Sutter returned Tues-
day after spending a couple of
weeks in St. Catharines and To-
ronto.
Dr. and Mrs. A. F. Axon are visiting
the World's Fair at Chicago this
week. Master Fred is visiting Mitx
chell relatives.
Misses L. and 0. Brigham left this
week on a motor trip to Chicago
with their sister and brother-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. E. Adams of
Londesboro.
Master Wallace Floody who has been
spending the past six weeks en Mrs
H. C. Cox's farm in Goderich
township and with his aunt Mrs.
Sutter of town, returned Saturday
to his home in Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs. 7. A. Fritts and" daugh-
ter, Virginia, of Pleasant Lake,
Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Wtn. J. Stir-
ling and family of Lake Lansing,
Mich., and Mr. Rueben Stirling
and son are spending a few days
at the home of Mr. John Stirling,
Sr., of James St., Clinton.
Mrs. A. Weatherwax and daughters,
Misses Catherine and Ray, of Or-
illia visited the past week
with the lady's father, Mr. D.
Cantebon., Miss Dollie Cantelon,
who had been visiting with her
sister in Orillia for a week or so,
returned home with them. •
Mr. Fred McTaggart, youngest son
of Mr. and Mrs. G. D. McTaggart,
who has been spending a holiday
at his home in town, left Tuesday
evening and sails from Vancouver,
B.C. by;the Empress of Russia for
Shanghai, China. Mr, McTaggart
is connected with the 1Ciiownchina
Incorporation, in whose interests
he goes to the Orient. Old friends
bid him Bon Voyage, good luck and
a safe return, in duo time.
Mr, and Mrs. Arthur Bishop return-
ed Saturday after a lengthy hon-
eymoon trip and spent a few days
visiting the lady's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Oliver Jervis, the Base Line,
leaving yesterday for Burlington)
Mr. and Mrs. Bishop enjoyed a
most interesting motor trip, which
included a few days.'at the World's
.Fair. Mr, Bishop is mathematical
master on the staff of the Burling-
ton Collegiate and there they will

LONDESBORO
The regular meeting of the W. M.
S. of the United Church was held in
the church basement on Wednesday
with a fair attendance. Meeting was
opened by the president, Mrs. Gar-
diner, who conducted the business
part. Reports of committees were
given and the toll call was answer-
ed by a verse :af Scripture. Mrs. F.
Johnston and Miss Barr were ap-
pointed as visiting committee, for
the month, letters of thanks were
read for flowers received, etc. At
the conclusion of this part the meet-
ing was left in charge of Group No.
3, Mrs. F. Johnston taking charge)
A hymn was sung and Mrs. John-,
stun read the Scripture Iesson, very
interesting readings were given by
Mrs. D. Carter, Mrs. J. Vodden, Mrs,
Caldwell, Mrs. S. Carter and Mise
Mary Caldwell, Miss E. Jamieson
read the devotional leaflet, Miss Hel-
en Johnston rendered a pleasing
duet, sentence prayers were given
and special prayers were offered for
the sick aria suffering in our midst.
At the close lunch was served by
the group in charge and a few min-
utes of social intercourse was
spent together.
Mrs. Proctor and sons and Miss
Eliza Proctor of Belgrave were the
guests of Miss S. Barr on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Johnston of
London spent the week -end with his
mother, Mrs. J. Johnston. Miss Hel-
en accompanied them back and will
spend part of her holiday there.
The annual Institute picnic will be
held at Goderich on Wednesday af-
ternoon, Aug. 30th. A good program
of sports will be run off Come and
bring a well filled basket and enjoy
the afternoon.
Mr, and Mrs. E. Adams and Lloyd
and Misses Olvetta and Levinia Brig-
ham left on a motor trip to the
World's Fair, Chicago, on Tuesday.
They will be absent about a week.
Mr. and Mrs. A. Kunkle and fam-
ily and Mrs. Langley of Niagara
Falls spent the week -end with Mr.
and Mrs. E. Crawford.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Tamblyn and
Joan and John of Toronto spent the
week -end with the former's mother,
Mrs. J. Tamblyn.
Mr. J. Armstrong has moved into
Mr. Robt. Cockerline's house and
Mr. Percy Manning has taken pos-
session of the store formerly occu-
pied by Mr. Armstrong.
A number of the citizens are very
busily engaged getting the grounds
ready for the new skating rink at
the back of Mr. Ball's garage. ,
Mr. and Mrs. W. Tamblyn, accom-
panied by Mrs. 3. Tamblyn and Mr.
and Mrs, James Elsley, spent Soni
day with friends at Kincardine.
Mrs. L. McNeill underwent a minor
operation last week at the Clinton
Hospital. She is getting along well
and will be home this week.
Mrs. Robt. Scott, who has been
taking treatment in the Clinton hos,
pital for blood -poisoning for the past
eight weeks, was removed last week
to the home of her mother, Mrs. J.
Vodden, Clinton.
