On Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Pocock, a reception was held in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. East, recently married. Some beautiful and useful gifts were re- ceived and a pleasant time spent. Sorry to report very little improve- ment in the condition of Mrs. Per- due, Sr. Her many friends symv pathize with her in her illness, Mrs. R. E. Rowden and Muriel of Holinesvilie spent the week -end with Mrs. Rowden's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Lockhart. On Tuesday evening, May 23rd, the Men's CIub held a social even- ing for all, Ladies included, A pleasant program was given, includ- ing readings, recitations,. music by cluborchestra and a spelling match. that created some good laughs, and brought back school days, Messrs. I. Stirling and W. Perdue were the captains, the former's side winning. Mr. Harding of the Royal Bank staff, Clinton, remained on the floor the longest. Mr, G. H. Jefferson chose the words for spelling, The next meeting of the Club will be held on June 13th. Miss Helen Cox spent the week -end with ,her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herb. n Cox, , Wedding bells are still ringing - loud and clear. At a -meeting of the congregation of Grace 'church on Tuesday evening it was decided to hold a garden par- ty on Wednesday evening, June 14th. Mr. and Mrs . Harry Ambler and baby son,' accompanied by the lady's mother, Mrs. H: E. Rorke, who had bean 'staying with. them for some weeks, motored ,over from Pontiac Mich., last week -end.
