Measles has broken out again in
this vicinity and the school had to be
closed this week.
The lVIen's Club meeting was called
off Tuesday evening,: too, and folk
are staying pretty well at home these
days.
We are sorry to report this week
the death of Mr. Herb. Burke, which
took place at his home an the 1st
'concession on .Monda ,.. Some time
ago he was seized with a stroke while
in Goderich and was taken to. Goder-
ieh hospital where he remained until
about •a month ago, when he was by
his own request, brought home. He
had gradually grown worse and
death came on Monday night as a
relief from suffering. Sympathy is
extended to his Sister, Jennie, with
whom he lived, and to other relatives,
the funeral was held • from his late
home, on Wednesday afternoon to
Maitland cemetery, Goderieh. LIIIu

troit on Monday attending the
funeral of the former's brother:
the late Frank McIntyre.
Mrs. J. 'McConnell 'of Moffatt was
the guest of her mother, Mrs. Chas.
Cook of Clinton, far a few days
last week, returning home on Fri-
day.
Mr. Chas Lindsay, .Mrs. W. Jenkins
and Mr. and Mrs. 'Geo. Falconer,
Brucefield, attended the funeral of
the late Dr. Kenneth M. Lindsay of
London on Monday. Miss Lily
Lindsay had been in London for
several days prior to the death of
her nephew. Mrs. T. Lindsay was
also in London for the funeral.

The young people of Stanley town-
ship are urgently requested to at-
tend a social gathering of The Uni-
ted Farm Young Peoples' Club to be
held at the home of Miss Mary Gib-
son on Tuesday evening next.
A splendid program and social time
is promised. Ladies are asked to re-
member the usual necessities.
,The purpose'of this organization is
to bring the young people of Stanley
together in order to further rural
education by, lectures, debates, playa,
etc., and for the 'organization and
promotion of sports from season to
season. In short this Club intends
to further and participate in Educa-
tional, Social, and Sports entertain-
ments the year round.
The Y.P.S. of Brucefield church
had as their guests the Young Peo-

the earlier part of the program con-
sisting of a devotional period, instru-
mental and vocal selections, readings
by Miss Sadie Elliott, and also a
beautifully illustrated Iecture on
missionary work in Trinidad. •
The Brucefield group then took
charge of the social program under
the leadership of Miss Dorothy
Broadfoot. At the conclusion lunch
was served. To conclude we might
say "A good time was had by all."
The Women's Association have been
working hard for the past few weeks
practicing a play entitled "The Three
Pegs," which is a humorous three -
act comedy, full of fun mixed with
some good commonsense, and guar.
