This is Fire-preventionweek in
• Canada, the week in which we Shan't'
• make an especial study to prevent
'fires and guard against their oc-
currence.
The loss by fire in Canada ex-
ceeds forty-five million dollars and
'the loss of life mounts up to over
three' hundred yearly. You cannot
• back life which is once lost and
cannot restore the material lose nes
••easioned, so that fire loss is a com+
plete, irrevocable loss. And the
''worst feature about this is the fact
'that it is nearly all needless. It is
,estimated that over ninety per cent.

sometimes complain about lack of

Struck down by a passing automo-
bile while walking along the county
