so, being called hither by the ill,
ness and subsequent death of his
brother, the late S. S. Cooper.
Mr. Wm. Wise ' and son, Mr. Law -
ranee Wise, and Mss, Wise of Sault
Ste. Marie, Micb., have been visit-
ing at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
E. 1-I. Wise and with other rela-
tives in town and vicinity.
Mr, and Mrs. G. W. Layton of Exe-
, ter called on friends in Clinton on
Friday afternoon. They were on
their Way to Gcderich, where Mrs.
Layton was to speak at a gather-
ing of young mission circle work-
ers in North street United church.
Miss Frances B. Hawkins, mission-
ary of the Anglican Church, home
on furlough from Japan, visited
with her brother, Mr. T. W. Haw-
kins in town over the week -end.
Miss Hawkins spoke in St. Pant's
church on Sunday afternoon and
evening.
Mr. J. McNaughton, accompanied by
some friends, came up from Lon-
don on Thursday to attend the
Spring (Show. Mr. breNaughton
makes a point of attending the
show each year, when he meets
41d friends, who are always glad
to see him.
Mrs. W. Wilson. who underwent a
serious operation for mastoids, a
few weeks ago, made so satisfac-
tory, a recovery that she was able
to leave the hospital last week.
She joins her husband and family
in Kincardine, where. they were
moving at the time she was taken

Miss Edith Herbert, who has been
quite ill, is now recovering and it
is hoped she will soon be fully re-
stored to health.
Mr. F. Stirling is moving into the
Elliott house. Mr. Stirling is tele-
phone lineman.
A large number from hereabouts
took in the Clinton Spring Show on
Thursday last. It was a fine show
and a big crowd. Usually our
school has a heliday on that day but
this year work was continued as
usual,
Mr. and Mrs, Proctor Palmier sand
sons and Mr. Leslie Jervis visited
relatives in Detroit recently,
The Young Peoples' Society met
on Friday evening in the church,
Miss Frances Potter being in charge.
After the opening exercises and the
reading of the minutes by the
secretary, Miss Edna Huller, Harold
Yeo gave a reading, Miss Laura Jer-
vis gave a piano solo, Miss Reta
MacDonald read some translations
of Korean poems, Miss Cora Tre-
wartha gave a description of a Kor-
ean autumn, Misses M. and V. GU.-
don
lid=don contributed a duet and Miss Es-
ther MacMath gave a reading, "The
Call of Youth." 'The repeating of
the Mispah benediction brought the
meeting to a close.

the Quarterly Official Board have
asked that a ballot be' taken next

vice was discontinued some years
