Fractures Wrist .
Miss Margaret Stirling, 'youngest
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Les
Stirling, had• the .•misfortune to fall
down the school stairs on Friday and
fracture her right wrist. Margaret
was walking down arm -in -arm with
another girl when in the rush of
exit. someone pushed her and the
lost her balance. .

"It is nearly four months since my
last letter to you and long past time
to write again. During this time I
have received four boxes of cigarettes
from you and one from the glue
Water Unit. I find „these boxes very
useful and again I say thank you. As
you have probably heard 1 left the
Continent about the first of July
and since that time I have hadthree
leaves and. been on three different
stations. My first leave was seven
days in London, the second was
fourteen days in Belfast and the
third was nine days in Dublin.
"As you can easily see the place I
like to go to best is Ireland. The
last time I was in Belfast I met
Stuart Watson at the Canadian
Legion CIub and he expects to be on
his way home very soon. The `lest
time I saw Brown Higgins was about
Waiting! You waited for the war to end in Europe and tor
loved ones to return. Now you are waiting for the manu-
facturers to make so many things you need. Thousands of
women in every city, town and township of Canada are_wait-

Bride -Elect Honored
Mrs. H. R. McKay and Mrs. R. L.
Bassett were hostesses on Tuesday
evening when a kitchen shower was
held at their home for Miss Jeanne
Dunn, a bride-to-be. After the guests
had assembled, Jeanne was invited
to go in for awhile. The sitting,
room was in darkness and when the
lights were 'flashed on Mrs.. J. Par-
ker played the wedding march. and
a tiny bride and groom, Barbara
Bassett and Marion Makins went
forward and escorted her to a chair
decorated with b idal streamers,
Mrs. Grant Turner and Mrs. Chas.
Scotebmer carried in a basinette
with twin dolls reposing therein on
which was a sign "For Rent". The
bride-to-be, who was completely
taken by surprise, . found that the
dolls were sitting on top of many
Leautiful and useful gifts.
After unwrapping and acknow-
ledging each, Jeanne expressed her
thanks for the gifts and also to
those who sponsored the shower. The.
guests enjoyed a game of Euchre
after which refreshments were serv-
ed.

Club Holds Meeting
The London Road•Club met for its
September meeting at the home of
Mrs. Anderson, with the Vice Presi-
dent, Mrs. Swinbank, in the chair
The meeting was opened, all join-
ing in singing "Blessed Be The Tie
that Binds", followed by the Club
Creed. Eleven members and one
visitor answered the roll call with a
current event.
Minutes of the.last meeting were
read end approved. Reports of the
various committees were given.
Three complete layettes were sent
to the Red Shield. Wool was given
out to be knit into mitts,
The' meeting ' tlloeed with the
National Anthem,, The hostesses
served a dainty supper,
The next meeting will be held at
the home of Mrs. Swinbank; lunch
will be a pot.luck supper. Roll call
will be something for the layettes.

' RESTRICTIONS LIFTED
The ban on travel and convention
gathering which was imposed last
June will be lifted November 1, ac-
cording to an announcement by W.
Harold McPhillips, prices and supply
representative of the Prices Board
for Western Ontario.
Mr. McPhillips said that it was
expected the heavy travel would
continue through October, but after
that the normal season fall off
would occur.
