Cooke Commanding Officer Presents Wings At an impressive and colorful cere- mony held at the Fort William Air Port on. Tuesday, June 19th; two members of the R.C.A.F., stationed there for the job of spraying the Nipigon forest area against the bud worm 'scourge, were honored by their commanding officer, Fit. Lt. T. C. Cooke, D.F.C. About fifty officers and men par- ticipated in the ceremony. Fit. Lt. G. H. Moody of Goderich wai Presented operational wings, 1st recognition '0'4 gallant service by completing a tour of operatiths, and W.0.2 J. F. O'Connor of Guelph re- ceived his promotion to the rank of •pilot officer. nt. TA. 7. C. COokee is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Cooke of Clinton. A top ranking pilot, flying a Canso plane, he served: on the east coast for a year and previously to returning to Canada last November, served for a year flying around Iceland and Scotland. For his out- standing service he was awarded the Distinguished Plying.,,Cross. Flt. Lt. Cooke .stated, at the time that the job of -spraying 100 square miles of Nipigon forest is progress- ing very favourably; with •a total of 74 square miles completed., totailing $58.00 have been received. Their assistance will be very much appreciated by the local farmers, who will later return the compliment and help har- vest the Western •crops. V COUNCIL MEETING The regular July meeting of Conn - col was held in the Council Chamber on Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock. Al; members were present and Mayor Agnew was in the chair. A deputation 'from the Para Commission was present at the meeting and their treasurer Geo. MeLay, presented a report on the progress of the work to date; also a detailed statement ot the financial status, As council, at a previous meeting had committed themselves in the matter of temporary !financial assistance on the construction of the Park project. considerable discussion ensued. No definite action was taken at this meeting. The clerk was directed to get guidance concerning the autho, ity of council to give temporary financial aid. Dr. F. G.
