RED CROSS NOTES
The 79th regular meeting of Clin-
ton Red Cross •Society was • held in
the Town Hall on Monday, June 4th,
•at 3- pan. with the President, _Mrs.
W. A. Oakes in the cirair, The Daily
prayer and Lord'e prayer were rts-
peated in unison." Secretary's
treasurer's reports wexe received' as
were the reports front the conveners
of the various committees. The
emergency sewing quota had all
been completed and shipped.
Hospital visitors to the Camp
Hospital for June will be Mrs. Percy
Manning and Mrs. Gordon Miller.
• Due to lin urgent call for Release
PSercels for the Fast, all the sinplus
stocle-of service socks have been
shipped. This stock must be replaced
as soon as possible. An earnest re-
quest goes outfor knitters to meet
this emergency. • -
There will be a joint meeting for
the months of 'July and. August to

Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. James- Livermore,
who have been residents of town
since their marriage, observed their
45th wedding anniversary on Wed-
nesday, -June 6th.
This last week end, Mr, and Nlys,
Livermore, accompanied by their son,
E. S. Livermore, K.C., of London, and
his family, ,enjoyed a trip to Fort
Erie, where their daeghter,, Mrs.
Clarence Green, Reg. N., had a wed-
ding dinner awaiting them, including
a three-story wedding cake and ap-
propriate decorations. Their son and
daughter presented- them with a
substantial cheque, and there were
also gifts from their two grand-
le.hildeen and from friends and
neighboute.

The Huron Federatiori!,' of Agricul-
ture will hold their anneal picnic in
Lioes Park, Seaforth, on:Wednesday,
June 13th. One of the -Xeature at-
tractions will ' be a Latrosse. gaine
between Brampton and Newel. There
are many high ranking - players on
these teams and specteters should
see a real contest. •

Mr. Frank Freeman, who has been
a member of the staff of the:Clinton
Public School Miring the: past year,
has been appointed principal of the,
Napanee Public School fdr the com-
ing term.
Clinton Spring Show
Clinton's Annual Spying Show
was held for the -fortieth. time on
Tuesday, Jtine 5th, in the ' Recrea-
tion Park. This- is the- fret show to
be held in the Park; the earlier shows
were held dn the Main ,Street. The
continual wet weather'- Iria greatly
delayed and hampered the';'alterations
in the park, but the show was pre-
sented in a very capable Maener.
. There was a large number of en-
tries in the various olesSe,s for
horses, cattle and swine. ale crowd
of spectators estimated tor be about
5,000. '
Mayor Agnew of Oliritonswelcomed
the exhibitors and visitors end, stated
that the Clinton- Sprinhow will
expand in he -rears teSiltiMo. s '' •
Mayor -W. J. Heamani of London
offieially opened! the show and in
his remarks, praised the work being
done along this line in Clinton. He
also moiled his association with
many of the lads from Clinton and'
District in the old, 161st Battalion,
The Clinton Banned the Parade to
the park. The school children from
Clinton district were led by the Bugle
Band of the Clinton Collegiate insti-
tute.
Mr. A. J. MeMuiray was general
manager of the Show and was in
charge of all the arrangements for
the occasion. The sarniouncer for the

N.X., Wingbani. •

Makes Good Theman
Rev: John R. Thompson, young
minister of Trinity Anglican Church,
might just as well belong to the
St. Thomas Fire Department. Salem -
da when flames destroyed a great
part of the Grand Central Hotel in
that city, he went into the burning
building and helped carry out furni-
shings and valuables. Then he re-
turned to carry And hold hose lines,
But this wasn't his first fire. A
few weeks ago when the Brownlees
Drug Store, about a :block from the
hotel, was gutted, Mr. Thompson
performed a similar service..

Church Clinton, for the regular
executive of the W. M. S. of Huron
Presbyterial. Mrs. W. tr. Thomp,son,
President, epreducted the devotional
program. .Misa Compbell gave a
concise report of the Provincial ses-
sions held: in Toronto, stressing the
need of loyalty to the cause of 1Vlis-
sions.
Mrs. W. J. Thomson, Mrs. J. Q.
Greig and Miss 'Campbell were named
a committee to meet with 1VIrs. Gor-
den Bissett and Mrs. A. Taylor, of
Godevich, to complete' armangemente
for the celebration of the Golden

thirteen members of the Calf Club
met at Mr. Edwin Wood's to judge
a class of heifers. The Representa-
tive from Clinton was there and after
the judging was over, the boys were
given a piece of rope, and they were
taught how to make a halter for
their ,ealf.

Mr. and Mrs. Bert Marsh have
purchased a home in Blyth from
Robert Powell.
Mr. Durnin elerk of West
Wawanosh, who was a successful
salesman in the Victory Loan, has
presented the village with- a new
Victory Loan Flag-.
A number from here attended- the
funeral of the late Richard McWhin-
ney Crewe on Wednesday.
A miscellaneous shower was held
at the kerne of Mrs. John McKnight
on Monday night, in honor of her
granadaiaghter, Lois Ferguson of
Goderich, bride -elect of this month.
The early part of the evening was
spent in games followed by a short
program. At an appropriate • time
little Garth McKnight - dressed as a
bride and little Donald Taylor dress-
ed as a groom drew -a decorated
wagon filled with gifts into the living
room. Lois opened the gifts and
thanked all for their thoughtfulness.
A delightful lunch was then served.

Children's Day and Flower Sunday
service was. observed in Ebenezer
church on Sunday, June 3rd: The
preparation of the progeasn was un-
der the leadership of Mrs. Mervin
Lobb. The Junior and Intermediate
Classes provided the music, and a
number of the young people took
part in the service. Rev. C. Tavenep
gave an interesting address to the
children. Next Sunday, June 10, thq
20th anniversary of Church Union
will ibe celebrated. Service will be at
9.15 a.m.
