President and Mrs. N. Miller hon-
orary Vice -President.
Donations are 'gratefully received.

quilt top and lining from Miss Davis.
The third Tuesday of the month
being packing day the following arti-

1 child's dress, 1 pr. boy's pants; 2
pair girls' panties; 3 hand knit
sweaters; 42 pair seeks.
The next meeting will be held on

OBITUARY
MRS JOHN PEARSON'
The many friends of Mrs. 'John
Pearson, learned, with regret of her
death, which cceurred in Victoria
Hospital, London on Wednesday,
May 9th. She had gone to London a
week earlier, and suffered a severe
stroke front which she never railed.
The deceased was formerly Miss
Catherine McEwen, and had lived in
Stanley township all her life. Her
husband John Pearson died. in 1930
and she has since lived with her
brother, John McEwen, on the Bay-
field Road. She was a member of the
Presbyterian Church, Clinton, and
active in Red Cross and Community
work.
She is survived by her daughter,
Mrs. Walter Holmes, London, two
brothers, John McEwen of Bruce -
field, Alex - McEwen of Cleveland
and four grandchildren.
The funeral service, conducted. by
Rev D. J. Lane, Clinton and Rev.
G.F.M. Atkinson, Brucefield, _ was
held on Friday, May llth from the
home of Mrs. James Thomson,
Brucefield, The pall -bearers were
Adam Stewart, Will McEwen, John
Innes, Ross Scott, John A. McEwen,
Walter MeBeth Jr. Interment took
place in Baird's cemetery.

Mr, Arthur Evans and family,
wish to, thank their many friends
and neighbours for the kindness
show then during their recent sad
bereavement. Also those who so
kindly loaned their cars. '
The first of May was observed by
the W. A. of Brucefield 'United
Church as Visitors Day, There was
a•very large attendance. Botb the
Stanley Club and the Tuckero!lit°h
ladies responded very graciously to
the invitation to attend, and came in
large numbers. Visitors were also
present from other parts of the com-
munity and a very enjoyab'e after-
noon was spent. Much of the usual
business was dispensed with and
after the opening exercises, a fine
program followed. The first ioart of
the program consisted of two num-
bers, by the Stanley Club. Mrs. Will
MeEwan gave a .humorous talk on
"Middle Age" and Mrs, Wilson
(formerly Miss. Nora Stewart) gave
an entertaining reading. The
Tuckersmith •L9dies furnished two
numbers, one a piano solo by Mrs.
Rogerson, .which' was 'much enjoyed,
and a humorous' reading by Mrs.
Speare whieh Was also splendid.
A number of the ladies of Bruce -
field. W. As then put on a short play
which portrayed very clearly the
difficulties encountered bby the Presi-
dent of a Ladies. Society, while at-
tempting to conduct a meeting .in
good conduct. Mrs. Henderson and
Wonnetta alto tang a duet, which
was very -much -enjoyed..
A very pleasant time was then
spent in partakirg of a bountiful
'well and a scc al hour followed,
after which the meeting was brought
te a close, •

in the Yourg People's secvice on

The Y.P.U. spent a very enoy-
able evening- with the, Goshen Young
