Goderich Music Festival
• In the early part of 1942 the
members of the Goderioli Music
Club conceived the idea •of a music
festival for Goderich and the county
'of Huron. They •,secureci the co-
operation of some of the music teach-
ers -of the county and in Victoria
Street United Church in May 1942,
'the Goderich Music Festival was
born. Since then under the careful
guidance of the Music Club it haS'
grown until it represents one of the
finest county groups of musicians in
bid s Pravin ce.
At the 'first Festival there ' were
thirty-five entries. Fax the Festival
to be held an May 7, 8, 9 and 10 there
,
are, over four hundred entries. This
' gratifying expansion has been ac.
complished only by the keenest co.•
operation of. all the. musie. minor
visors and teachers of the county
and town.
Truly it can be said that the
interest in the Goderich Music Fes-
tival has been over increasing.
The morning and afternoon ees-
sions commencing at 9.30 aaii. and
1•30 pan, respectively, will be given
to the competitions of the \children
from the town and rural elementary
schools. The evening sessiont, to
coirimerice at 7.15 pan., ,w1,1 be de-
voted mainly to the final competi-
tions, In the day's classes, secondark
school selections, and senior plane
and vocal numbers.
The public has always attended
these festivals in good numbers and
the members of the Goderich Music
Club and the music supervisors at
the county' hope that.the same keen,
interest will he shown • this year
when the fourth Festival is present-
ed in North ereet United hri-ch,
oduich, on Monday, Tuesday, Wed-
