OUR NEIGHBOR
Although le lives, just down our
street &
And often past his door we go,
It seems 'but seido>:n that. We meet,
In all our passing to and fro.
He's never been the kind of chap,
" Who wished to pry in our affairs,
Or tried' to press along a rap,
• Or pressed on ethers all his cares,
He never bothered: telling Us,
If some odd thing we chanced to
do,
That, neve,`; never was it thus,
Or worked .himself into a stew.
But when -sve seemed, a friend to need
And someone by our side to stand,
Without a thought of faith or creed,
He came to offer helping hand. •
When sorrow came; both keen and
swift, "
And struck its numb, he seemed to
talcs,
The heaviest .burdens, and to lift,
Us up, and hope within its wake.
He came to bring .a loaf of bread,
Foresaw otic ,need, from 'shop or
store,
For extra !guests he'dgive-
his bed,
He swept the snow from; round the
door. .
Would not, the world much: happier
be,
And lighter fat our„ tabor,
If.all his way, of Iife, could, see
And enolate. our neighbor?
