The last regular meeting was no exception, After the program, had been pre- sented, His Worship, (a very capable leader, in the democratic field), called on the ,body to state their in- dividual aims with regards to the oncoming nominations, for the year 1945. This proved •to be very inter- esting. One by one, each man got up and expressed his gratitude towards the council, for their unexcelled co- operation, unsurpassed in the history of our municipal life. Each man ex- pressed his desire to stand for office. One councillor stated his wish to contest our present reeve for his office. No one offered to contest the mayor ality. The reeve stated, the reasons for those who may contest his office as follows, 1. Prejudice, 2. Jealousy and Mit but not least. "The desire of holding an office of higher level." I might • add the fact, • that of the present body who are . all seeking f another term of office, one man only, r desired. to leave the nomination of himself, entirely in the hinds of John Public. t ' In conclusion; our present council. have sueceeaed to'tlie highest degree, d as citizens, in their task. I believe, if s every' citizen attended. the public nomination, with the facts I have endeavoured to bring to light in an mind. 1945 can equal that of the preceeding year quiet easily. .
