Mrs. Richard Stewart of Goderich
and was introduced by the president.
Mrs. Stewart gave an inspiring mes-
sage of Thanksgiving and Thank -
offering. A vote of thanks was mov-
ed to the guest speaker and the
visitors by Mrs. Fred Ross. The
meeting closed by singing a hymn
and the National Anthem and prayer
by Mrs, Edgar Lawson. A dainty
lunch was served and a social half

The Red Cross Porters Hill Unit
held their Oetolrer meeting Monday
at the home 'of Mrs. Jack Gilbert.
16 ladies were present. 2 quilts were
quaked. In the absence of the presi-
dent the 'meeting was taken by Mrs.
Geo. Greenslade. The meeting opened
with a hymn and the • Red. Cross
prayer. Theminutes of the last meet-
ing were read by the sec. Mrs. John
Torrance, 3 turtle neck sweaters and
several pair socks were .brought in.
The sewing eonvenor handed out
girls blouses. 25 of these were cut
and 25 more are to be cut. Anyone
caring to help make these, get in
touch with Mrs. J. Torrance or Mrs.
Bert. Harris. A. gift donated by Mrs.
J. Gilbert was won by Mrs. Les Cox.
The November meeting will be held
at Mrs, Geo. Greenslades. The boxes
for the boys overseas had been pack-
ed and got off in good time for
Christmas. Mr. Ernie Townsend very
kindly offered to donate rolls and
weiners for hot dogs to be sold at a
booth at his sale, the proceeds to go
to our Red Cross work. The meeting
closed with the National ,Anthem,
Rev. and Mrs, Charles Cox of
Bee;vie • were callers with Mr. and
Mrs. Les Cox.

Mr. Stewart Baird • spent a few
days visiting friends in Detroit.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Taylor, Mr,
and Mrs. Victor,Taylor and Mr. Wal-
ter Baird attended the funeral of
their anc'le,.the late Mr Oran Gil-
mour at Forest on Monday. Mrs.
Walter Baird who visited in Forest
for; two Weeks, returned home with
them.
Prayer. The minutes of the previous
meeting ware read and adopted.
Eleven members and eight visitors
were present.
A letter of thanks was read from
Pte. Ray Mason who is serving in
France thanking the Red Cross for
a ,box he had received.
We would like all the tickets on
the cake to be in next meeting.
A towel was raffled .and Annie
Ball held the lucky ticket. Proceeds
amounted to 85c.
The next meeting is to be held at
the home of Mrs. C. Farqubai'. The
Wks to serve are Mra. E. Farquhar,
Mrs. E. Bali, Mrs. O. Jervis and Mrs.
O; Rapson. The Roll call will be
answered by My First School •Tea-
cher.
