ing along nicely.
Much regret is being expressed at
the_ passing of Mrs. Archie Jackson a
former resident here. The death occ-
urred at her home in Goderich after
a lengthly illness. She was form-
erly Mary Etta' -Govier. Surviving
are two daughters Laura and Lottie,
'both of Goderich,
Mrs. Seers 'along with Billy and
Johnny Seers are visiting friends at
Ingersoll. .
The B. Y. P. U. met Sunday even-
ing with Mr. Glen Raithby in charge,
Earl Raithby led in Prayer and Marie
Raithby read the scripture. Duets
were rendered by Emma and Shirley
Robertson also .by Josephine Weir
rand Donald Ross. Bill Raithby con-
ducted a Bible Quizz. Mr. Jas. Raith-
by gave a talk, speaking on the last
'three verses of the eleventh chapter
• of St. Matthew. Miss Joyce Breck

rge Raithby closed the meeting with
prayer.
""Children's Day" was observed at
the Women's' Institute last Tuesday.
Mrs. Lawson presided and Mrs.
Gordon Taylor led in the repetition
of the Lord's prayer. An interest -

children, and consisted of solos by
Marion Taylor, Marylin Gardner and
AIIan Craig•. recitation, Wellington
McNeil; piano solos, Jean Kirkeonn-
"ell, Margaret Jackson, Marie Raithby
and Betty Craig; reading, Violet Ne-
• vins, duet, Kenneth and Teddy Turn-
er, recitation, Gail Gardner. A prize
donated by Mrs. Stoltz, was won by
Mrs. It Johnston. Lunch was ser-
ved by Miss J. Weir, Mrs. S. John-

Dill Unit of Red Cross held their
meeting at the home of Mrs. Will Cox
35 ladies were -present; 2 quilts: were
quilted. The Meeting was opened
by Mrs. Alvin Betties president, with
the Red cross prayer: Mrs. John
Torrance read the minutes of Iasi'
meeting., These were- adopted• as con.

childrens apparel were handed out
for next month. A box packed ready
to -be sent overseas to our boys was.
on exhibition and contained a splend-
id assortnient of very useful articles,
eats, and many other things, such as
shave cream, tooth paste, soap razor
blades, etc. whicb• the boys find very
hard to get over there. Two letters
of appreciation were read for boxes
received, one from Elmer Johnston
in France, and Ivan. Lockhart in
Italy. Tickets -were sold on a gift
donated • by Mrs. Allen Betties, and
won by Mrs. ' Reed Torrance. The
Sept, meeting will be held at Mrs.
Vic Elliott's home September, 18sh.

Summerhill Red Cross
The ladies of the Summerhill Red
Cross met on August the 16th in the
Summerhill Hall.. With the Presi-
dent in the chair the meeting opened
by the Red Cross Prayer and the
Lords Prayer. The minutes of the
last meeting were read and adopted.
Thirteen members and two visitors
were present.
A. letter of thanks was read from
Pte. Ivan Hogarth who is serving in
Italy for a box he had received from
the, Red Cross. It was decided to
hold an entertainment of bingo, baz-
aar, Iunch etc, On the second last
Friday of September. It was nloved.
and seconded that each member do-
nate an article for the bazaar,
Mrs. W. Lovett donated a jar of
jani and she also won the raffle,
A quilt was quilted and patches
were sewn during the afternoon.
` The •hostessess for next meeting
are Mrs. W. Gibbings, Mrs. J. Reason
Mrs. P. Riley and Mrs. A. Osbaldes-
ton.,
The sewing committee would Iike
all the sewing to be in by next meet-
ing.
