officiated at the marriage on Satur=
day, July 22nd, at 3.30;p.m.inTrinity
College. Chapel, 'Toronto, of Elizabeth
Tudor Gairdner; only. daughter of'
MTS. Gairdner; 'Secret Garden.' Bay-
field, and the late Rev. " R, H. For-'
tesque Gairdner, Pittsburg, Pa., ; to
James Richardson Scott, son of Mrs.
Scott, Seaforth,,and the late H. R.
Scott.
Regal lilies decorated the chancel.
Given' in marriage by her cousin,
Dr. T. Molesworth Gairdner, Gibbs-
town, N.J., the charming bride wore,
a portrait gown of heavy
white satin. • Her long tulle veil
was caught with a wreath of white
flowers and ,she carried a cascade
bouquet of bouvardia and white glad-
ioli ketals centred with gardenias
and .sweetheart roses. Her attendants
Mrs. R. A. Bowlby, York Mills, and
Mrs. D. R. B. Owen, Toronto,
were similarly attired in aqua
crepe. They carried bouquets of
cerise, purple and pink flowers and
wore matching garlands in their hair.'
L.A.O. 'HarryScott, brother of the
bridegroom,. was groomsman, and the
ushers. were Dr. Allan McAndrew,
Toronto; Dr. Robert Pritchard, Ott-
awa, and Capt. William Tillmann,
Kingston. Music throughout the
ceremony was played by Horace
Lapp.
At the reception which followed at
St. Hilda's College, Devonshire Place,
the bride's 'mother received in a
black crepe dress with white corsaa
and MTS. 11. R. Scott was attired' in
navy crepe with. which she wore a
corsage in the sante colours as the
bridesmaids' bouquets.
The bride's travelling costume
was a suit of navy blue shantung
accented: with white organdy with
which she -wore a navy blue straw
hat and corsage of cerise gladioli
petals.
In the fall they will live in
Saskatoon, where Mr. Scott is a pro-
fessor of English on the staff of the
University of Saskatchewan,
O'HEIR—GRAINGER
A quiet wedding took place in St.
Peter's church, Goderich, on Wednes-
day morning when Evelyn Campbell,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John
Grainger, Brucefield, was united in
marriage to L.A.C. Thomas Joseph
O'Heir, son of Mrs. O'Heir, Toronto,
and the late T. J. O'Heir.
The bride wore a street -length
white silk jersey dress with small
flower hat and shoulder length veil.
Her corsage was pink roses and bou-
vardia. The bridesmaid, Miss. Rota
Dalton,' was wearing a two-piece tur-
quoise crepe frock with white acces-
sories and corsage of Talisman roses.
The best man was Frank Fox.
After the ceremony a buffett lun-
cheon was served to thirty guests at
the horse of the bride's parents in
Brucefield. Mrs, Grainger received in
flowered blue crepe with white ac-
cessories and corsage of red roses.
Mrs. O'Heir, mother of the bride-
groom, wore beige crepe with white
accessories .and pink roses. Later
the couple left on a motor trip, the
bride traveling .in a brown linen
two-piece dress with white accessor-
ies.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pipe
Friends and neighbours gathered
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Vodden recently, to honour their
daughter, Mrs. Pipe and Mr. Pipe,
a recent 'bride and groom.
The evening was ,spent in playing
cards and social chat. The following
address was read and a lovely' wall
mirror was presented to the bride
and groom. In a few well-chosen
words, Mr, Pipe expressed his thanks
and appreciation on behalf of Ruth.

GODERICH TOWNSHIP
The July, meeting of the S. S. No.
4 Unit of the Red Cross was held at
the, home of Miss Isabel Oakes. The
president conducted the meeting
which was opened by repeating the
Lord's Prayer in unison. The minutes
of the previous meeting were read
and approved. The roll call' "any
favourite jam recipe" was answer-
ed by 15 members. There were 4
visitors present.
Yarn was distributed for knitting
and a quilt was quilted, the material
for the quilt ,being donated by Mrs.
Roy Eason' and Isabel Oakes. A gift
donated by Mrs. D. Rathwell was
sold by tickets and was won by Mrs.
Frank Jones. The next meeting is
to be held at the home of Mrs. Roy
Masora.
The S. S. No. 4 Unit were enter-
tained on Wednesday by the Sum-
merhill Unit at the Hall. Two quilts
were quilted and lunch was served
by a number of the Summerhill
ladies.
