TALENT
tow.raw.ema. By
Eachone of us has at least some
talent of which we are not making
any use. At times we do not .rea-
lize they are part of our being. All at
once a necessity arises in our lives,
perhaps our way of making a live-
lihood has been cut off and we have
to find some means of supporting
ourselves, Then we search through
our qualifications to see what we can
do, and God shows us that he has
given us some other talent on which
we can depend.
In these days of war and strife
many of our soldiers are coming home

course of their lives. What it means

we have these talents then what we
accomplish from them is due to the
force we put behind our effort to
accomplish what we are trying to do.
A lady going through a British
museum was shown the sword of
Wallace, that great Scottish hero and
patriot, `I do not see how it could
win such victories." "Ah, sir" replied
the guide, "you do not see the arm
that wielded it." 'We cannot expect to
get very far in any of our efforts if
we do not put our very best into it.

that that girl instead, of being left

hours singing for her Master. It may
be you think you have no voice. A
good way to find out is to have your
voice tested to join your local choir.

DECORATE WITH SNAPSHOTS
51
Any amateur- craftsman can make attractive trays and other home
decorations with snapshots.
HAVE
you ever thought of using
your snapshots as decorations
for your home? It's being -done and
the results are very pleasing.
Ordinary contact prints have a
wide range of usefulness—all the
way from place cards to trays and
folding screens. And enlargements
from your favorite negatives can
play an important part in your dec-
orating scheme. Of course, if you
have failed to preserve your nega-
tive you are pretty much out of
luck because negatives are neces-
sary for making extra prints or en-
largements. Yes, you can have copy
negatives made from your prints
but that is an added cost and there
will be some loss of quality in the
print. So, !always- be sure, to save
the negatives of your favorite snap-
shots for future use.
Remember the trays lined with
cigar bands? Our illustration shows
a modern version, worked out with
snapshots.- The prints are mounted
on a cardboard and placed beneath
the glass surface. And the nice part
about it is that anyone, can make
such a tray decoration during win-
ter evenings and have a lot of fun
in arranging the ipictures. Another
idea is to have ,an enlargement
made just the size of the tray. That
picture, might be a' shot of your
flower garden or perhaps one of
your favorite landscapes or a beach
scene. Prints or "enlargements can
be used too for decorating lamp
shades. As you probably know, both
contact prints and enlargements
may be obtained on single or double
weight paper. If translucence is '
wanted, specify single weight pa-
per, and makesure there is no
writing or; printing on the back of
the finished print. Prints that will
be subject to much "wear and tear"
should be on double weight stock.
The above examples are intended
only to give you two or three ideas
on how to use your snapshots for
home decorations. Many others will
readily occur to you.
Making hone decorations with
the help of snapshots is an ideal
way to enjoy long winter evenings.
Why not start planning your proj-
ects today?
