Collegiate Teachers
Hold First Convention
Members of the teaching staff of
Clinton .collegiate Institute attended
the first county convention of secon-
dary sehool teachers to be held in
Ontario, in the Collegiate Institute,
Goderieh, friday last. Albout 70 teach-
ers were present, as well as high
e hool inspectors D. L. Gray and E
R McLellan, representing Ontario
Department of Eldueation.
At the morning session, after be-
ing welcomed by .A. R. Scott, prin-
cipal of Goderioh •collegiate, the
teachers melt in discussion groups, in
each of which the 'problems of one
particular department of the cerricu.

In the afternoon the whole group

duced. Discussion centred around the
question on how the school can beat

plications, a record number. Twenty-
two old age pensions were mom-
mended for full pension, four de-
ferred until assets are reduced, one
refused owing to .too' many assets,
two deferred for further investiga-
tion as to transfers, /
There was one ,application for mo.
ther's allowance, and one for +foster -
mother's allowance; both of these
were recomm'ended.
Members of the board present
were: W. R. Archibald, chairman,
Seaforth; Mrs. F. R. Redditt, God-
erich; R. J. Bowman, Brussels'; John
L. 'McEwan, Wroxeter; •Mrs. N. W.
Trewavtha, Clinton, and N. W. Miller,

interesting reading on "Bazaars."
The meeting• closed with Hymn 109,
and prayer by Mrs. Lane.

delicious refreshments and a social
hour was enjoyed by all present.
