Fred Telford's fish shanty was
broken into one night recently and
amongst articles stolen were a com-
pass 'and a barometer. L. H. Mac-
Leod's shanty was %also broken into
but as far as can be ascertained no-
thing was missing. A window was
smashed.

Karen left on Monday for Watford

To Improve Park
Blyth Lions Club park committee
met to discuss further plans for com-
pletion of • the park. Arrangements
were made to have it levelled, and
sown with grass seed. A bowling
green and tennis court are to be
added attractions at the ,parrs.
Honored by Choir
Miss Enid Brigham, who has been
a valued member of the United church
here, was honored following choir
practice • by 'the other members of
the choir in view of her approaching
marriage. ,She was presented with a
coffee percolator by Miss Irma Wal-
lace; and Miss Shirley Phillips read
an address. Lunch was served.
Relatives Pass
Stanley Sibthorpe has received
word that his mother, Mrs. John Sib-
thorpe, died September 15, in her 79th
year, at the home of her son, Albert
Sibthorpe, Manor Park, London, Eng-
land. She was buriedi -beside her hus-
band in Canbey Island cemetery. Mrs,
R. Harvey Robinson has received
word that her yomngest brother, Ro-
bert Davis, New Westminster, B.C.,
had died Monday, September 22, Mr.
Davis leaves his wife, ene son and
one daughter.

A movement is on foot to organize
a Soy Scout Troop at Brumfield.
Death of Mrs. S. Thompson
The eomnnunity was saddened to
learn of the passing away of Mrs.
Samuel Thomson, second concessions
of Stanley, whose death took place
early Sunday morning. Funeral was
held Tuesday .afternoon from the
residence: .
•' Successful Rally Day
Rally 'Day services were 'h'eld in
Brucefield United church last 'Sun-
day. There was is good attendance of
children and adults. Rev. E. R. Stan-
way,. the pastor., conducted the ser-
vices. He was assisted by Charles
Scott, a nephew, .formerly- of Cape
Breton: Mr. Scott is studying for the
ministry of the United Church and
spent the past summer on a mission
field near Willie, Sask. He told a
venw interesting story at the morn-
ing service, and in the evening he
preached a very fine sermon.
Bean Harvest Reid Up
The damp weather of the past few
days has held up the bean harvest
and many farmers still ,have beans
in the field. We hope that the wea-
ther niay improve so that the harvest
may be completed soon.
Group No. 3 of the W.A. of the
United Church will hold a sale of
home cooking and hand -made articles
on the evening of October 10 in the
basement of the church. Everybody
'welcome and will the members of
this group, active and home -helpers,
please make any contributions as soon
as convenient:
