Late Summer Weddings
CRAWFORD-FISHER
Benaniller United Church was the
scene of the marriage of, Irene, -dau-
ghter of Mr, and 'Mrs, Peter Fisher,,
R.R. 2 Clinton, to ,Horace M. Craw-
ford, 'son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. T.
Orawford, Port. Albert, Rev. C. Hay -
weed performed the ceremony.
The ,bride wore a floor length
gown of white nylon embroidered
with Iily of the, valley and lover's
knot over taffeta with a long train,
mound neck with long sleeves taper-
ing to a lily point over the hand. She
wore a halo with three-quarter em
broidered net veil. The bride also
wore a double strand of pearls, the
gift of the groom. She carried a
' bouquet of Hollywood roses and white
carnations,
The bridephaid, Miss Noreen Fisher
Goderieh, chose a floor length gown
of pink net over taffeta. She carried
deep pink Stweetheaet carnations. Miss
Provence Jawell, Goderieh, was matr-
on of honor and wore a floor length
gown of blue net over Nylon. , Her
flowers were pale •pink carnations.
Miss Sandra Westcott, Hamilton, was
flower girl in ;a floor length gown
of peach Nylon with a bandeau of
'white flowers, She tarried 'a nose-
gay.
The pianist was Miss Sally Mac-
Donald, Kintai'l. Miss Vivian Strau-
gltan, Auburn, was soloist.
The groomsman was Fred C'raw-
f'ord, Port Albert, brother of the
groom. The ushers were Earl Fuller
and Bruce .Sowerby, both of Goder-
ich.
After the Ceremony the luncheon
was thel'd in the church parlours. The
bride's mother received the guests,
wearing a black and. white 'silk jersey
dress, with black accessories and a
corsage of carnations. The gr'oom's

trimmed with satin, and white ,acc—
essories and a corsage of white car.

The couple left :on a wedding trip
to the United States. For her honey-
moon, the bride chose a light grey

seriber;, has been honoured in her city
of adoption by being chosen one of
two Girl Guides to attend Glen Barn-
ard Camp .cit Sundrige for a week
when 70 Olntario - Commiissioners and
Guiders will be present,
This canvpis directed by Miss Mary
Edgar, Toronto, and each year some
speciial .hospitality is offered. This.
year groups of children of non-Bri-
ieh origin 'were entertained and also
each Wednesday the Red Cross co-
gperated by taking a bus load of
children for swimming inetr•uction.
This Guide camp; will make .plans
for Guide work in the province for
the conisitg year.
Earlier this summer Miss Tasker
was a councillor at Camp Telcahion-
wake.

of a very lovely late summer bridal,
when their only daughter, Clara Mar -

William Wilson Bragger, eon of Mrs,
Thelma Brugger and the rate Francis
Brugger, ,Seaforth. The double -ring

with sweetheart neckline and a short

tip veil 'was held by a coronet head-
dress. Her bouquet, in the form of a
crescent, was composed of red Briar-
Cliffe roses and stephanotis. Her only

Lane performed the double -ring cer-
emony.
The wedding music was played by
Mrs. Morgan J. Agnew who also
accompanied William 13. Conron, Win-
gharn, the soloist, who sang "The
Lord's Prayer" before the ceremony
and "Through the Years" during the
signing of the register.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride was charming in a floor -
length gown of white satin. The dress
was fashioned with a tight bodice,
sweetheart neckline, long sleeves end_
ing in lily points, and a full skirt
sweeping into a short train. Her
long veil of illusion net was held with
a Queen Acme headdress which was
studded with seed pearls taken from

bride. Her headdress was a bandeau
of pink flowers with a shoulder -length
veil of matching net, and she also
wore matching elbow -length mittens.
Her flowers were a cascade bouquet
of white Killarney roses.
LAC Robert .Heaton, Centralia, was
best man, ands the ushers were R.
Benson Sutter, only brother of the
bride, and ,C',pl, ,Satin E. Dstwick, Oen-
tralia.
A reception followed at the home
of the bride's parents, where Mrs.
Sutter received wearing a silver blue
frock with navy accessories. Repre-
senting the groom's mother who was
unable to be present, Mrs. V. N. Pe-
terson, Exeter, wife of Squadron
Leader Peterson, Centralia, also re-
ceived wearing a black ensemble with
matching acceseories. Both wore cor-
sages of pink Biiarcliffe roses.
The bride's table, covered with a
band -made white Iace cloth, was cen-
tred with ,a three -tiered cake, with bud
vases of sweet peas, and ivory candles
in silver .holders on it. Those .assist-
ing were Mss. Wesley Holland, Gorl-
eri'ch, :Misses Ruth Potter, Lou
Thompson, Maey Lane, Coromta Wen-
dell and Florence Aiken, all of Clin-
ton.
Por travelling to points north, the
bride donned a beige cheek suit with
Cocoa brown accessories and a cor-
sage of Johanna Hill roses. On their
return, they will reside in Clinton.
Guests were present from Toronto,
Waterdown, St. Catharines, London,
Stratford, Ehceter, Centralia and
Binghamton, N.Y.
Mrs. Frank Rains has returned
from Scott Memorial hospital, Sea -

after her recent operation.

The president, Mrs. F. Townsend,
was inthe chair. The meeting open-
ed by singing hymn 446. Hymn 079
wasread in unison as a prayer.
Psalm 703 was read responsively.
The devotional ,period wa taken by
Mrs. M. Wiltse. Hymn 681 was sung.
Psalm 96 was read. Mrs. Wiltse read
a poen on the same psalm. Mrs.
Kennedy e'loeed the period with pray-
er.
The business period was opened by
reports being read from the various
committees. Oalls numbering 56
were reported dieing the past two
months. Several ietters and cards
were read thanking the W. A. for
flowers, fruit and letters of sym-
pathy sent to them.
Mr. Oliver Jervis approached the
ladies about having an .anniversary
supper. Farther announcement will
be made. It was decided to hold the
W. A. Meetings on Tuesday's for the
remainder of the year.'
Lunch will be served in Ootober by
the ladies of the Gravel road And the
second of 1Tullett.
Mrs. J. W. Treleaven favoured the
ladies with a piano solo and Mrs. G.
Ti. Fear with a humourous• reading
which were much enjoyed. The meet-
ing closed by singing hymn 500 fo11e
owed by prayer by Mrs. Woolfrey. A
social half ,hour was spent at the
close of the meeting with the ladies
of the base line serving a delicious
lunch.
Mrs, M. D. Taggart has received
word that her daughter, Mrs.Edward
Halsey, arrived Saturday in Shang-
hai, China, where she has gone to
cin her husband who is in command
there. Mrs. Halsey left London, On-
tario, by plane on Wednesday of last
week.
Mr. and Mrs, A. +S. Iatkley have
moved their household effects from
Toronto and once more will make
their home in Clinton: They are re-
siding at the corner of Fulton and
Dunlop Sts., which they recently pur-
chased from Mrs. Inkley's, son, Lorne
J. Brown.

Meeting Day Changed
The W. A. of Clinton Presbyter-
ian church met on Wednesday after-
noon September 3. in the Sunday
School room with 1.1 present, The
President was in the chair and Mrs.
Snider at the piano.
A hymn 'was sung followed by The
Lord's Prayer in unison. The Pres-
ident read the 9th chapter of St,
John's Gospel. The Secretary's and
Treasurer's Reports -were read by Mrs
Alan Maxwell. Moved by Mrs. Wilson
seconded by Mrs. 'Gibson that all
accounts be plaid.
Alivote was
taken in reference to
changing the day of meeting and was
carried in favor of meeting on the
first Tuesday 'in each month.
Tea hostesses for October will be
Mrs. Nott and Mrs. McTaggart. The
singing of a hymn and Prayer by
the President, brought the meeting
to a close,
