LOSE TO EXETER
With three regular players away
with the band at a tattoo in St.
Thomas, Clinton Lions Midgets put
up a courageous fight against Exeter
Liens. Juveniles in a Huron -Perth
Baseball League group match in Com-
munity Park here Friday evening last,
but lost to an older group of boys by
16-3,
The kids staged a gallant battle
against odds, and held the visitors
io a 2-1 score until the fifth when
nine runs were shoved across
Young Jack Wilson, was on the
mound for the Midgets and showed
promise of developing into a good slab
artist. Fle allowed only six safe hits,
but his support fell away badly when
most needed„ however, The Lions
were a little light in hitting, :banging
out only three, including a double by
Grealis.

COLTS CAPTURE
13TH OF SEASON
BEAT HENSALL 3-2
'Clinton Colts spotted. IlensalbZur-
ich Combines a brace ofrune in the
first inning on two safe hits and an
error, but kicked, through in the last
half of the Seventh to squeeze through
with a 3 -2 -victory in a Huron -Perth
Baseball League group match in Oom-
munity Park Monday evening,.
It was a Rice, tight game of ball,
with both hits and errors • on the shy
side, and the Marge crowd In attend•
ince really enjoyed it, although they
did not like the late start nor the
early ending.
Chief feaase was that one of the
stands gave way, catapulting •probab-
ly 100 ,fans to the ground. A' story of
this unfortunate accident is pebiish-
ed elsewhere inthis issue.
Gordon Stock 'twirled throughout
for' the winners, allowing only, three
safe hits in seven frames. Kipfer
was in good form on the Hensail
mound and kept the heavy' -hitting
Colts down to eight safeties, three of
them being bunched in the last of
the seveatlt when the game was won
and lost,
The visitors counted, twice in the
first inning. Ironton singled,; Chip
chase singled, and -C, Joynt was safe
on a alelclet's choice, .Horton being
forced at second. Tudor was safe on
error and two runs scored, •Glenn
forced Tudor at second, and D, foynt.
fanned.
In the last of the third, 2artiiff pol-
ed out one to Mickie in left held and
Stock popped to D. Joynt et third.
MacDonald and White each singled.
Neilans was hit by pitcher, and
Draper walked., forcing ill 'Mannon
aid. G1ew popped to second.
Colts won the. match in the last of
hte seventh. Woodcock lined to Chip -
chase. Bartliff singled to left and
stole ,second. Hawkins, pinch-hitting
for Stock, banged a lusty double to
centre, scoring Bartliff to tie the
game, and then romped home oe Fred
MacDonald's double to, centre. The
game was called at this point with
one out and one en base.
Best fielding plays of the"game -were
Neilans' running catch of a long foul
fly to left Held or Jszck Tudor's bat
in the sixth, and a smart double play
to nip a Hensail rally in the seventh
—Bartliff to White to MacDonald,
