an illness of (four months, in his 82nd
year.
Mr. Reitman farmed for many
years in Stanley Township: before re-
tiring to a small farm in Hay Town-
ship 18 years ago. His wife pre-

spent the weekend in ,town renewing
former acquaintances.
Mrs. I. Newman, London, has been
beige trientine suit with brown ac-
cessories and a turquoise hat, and
worse a corsage of cerise roses. A
very intimate friend attended the
bride, attired in a coral velvet suit
with matching hat and wore a cor-
sage of hand -painted blue carnations.
The best man was Orval Lobb, of
Clinton, .brother of the groom. The
ushers were 'James Newell, Toronto,
and Frank Heard, Clinton. Follow-
ing the ceremony, a reception and
buffet luncheon were held at the Roy-
al. York Hotel. Mrs. Clifford Lobb,
mother of the groom, received, wear-
ing a powder blue frock with navy
accessories and a corsage of Johan-
na Hill roses.
Later, the young couple left on a
trip to North Bay where they will
spend a two week vacation. On 'their
return they will reside in Trenton,
Guests were present from Goderich,
Clinton, Detroit, Port Credit, Belle-
ville and Toronto.

Mrs. Irene Hemi was called to
Windsor, Saturday morning, owing to
the serious illness of her mother,

Mr, and ,Mrs. Horace Eividge went
to London, Tuesday afternoon, to visit
their son. Gladstone, who is 111 in
hospital there.
Mass Madelein Hawkins has return•
ed from a three week's motor trip
through the Maritimes and the New
England States.
Mrs. J. E. Watson -returned to Tor-
onto on Tuesday 'after holidaying
with her mother, Mrs. A. D. Beaton,
for two months.
Mr. and Mrs. 'Clifford Epps are
attending the Canadian Gladioli Show
in Oshawa on Friday and Saturday

to her home in Blyth after spending

Our Linty of Mt, Carmel Church
was the scene of a pretty wedding on
Saturday, August 9, when Madeleine,
eldest daughter of Mr, and 'Mrs.
'Joseph Rowland, Mt. Carmel, became
the bride of Ignatius, son of Mr: and
Mrs, William Denomme, Drysdale.
The bride, who was given in mar-
riage by her father, wore a floor -
length gown of white slipper satin.
(ler long veil was held in place with
a Queen's Crown headdress, and she
carried a bouquet of pink gladioli and
fern, knotted with white ribbon and
streamers. Her sister, as bridesmaid,
was attired in a tea rose silk jersey
street -length dress and carried a bou-
quet of rose gladioli and fern with
pink ribbon and streamers. She wore
a small hat to match.
Following the ceremony, the bridal
party motored to Bayfield' where a
wedding breakfast was served to 38
guests at the Little Inn A reception
was held in St. Joseph's Parish Hail,
Drysdale, on Saturday evening,

Stanley Club Receives
Thanks from England
' The August meeting of 'Stanley
ComMunity •Club , was held at the
home of Mrs, Norman Baird with the
President, Mrs. Cantelon, in the. chair.
There were 19 members and ten visi-
tors and four children present. The
meeting opened with the 'L, erd's
Prayer repeated in unison and the
secretary's and •treasurer's. retorts.
The collection was $13.80.
It was decided that the Club would
send another 20 -pound box of groc-
eries to England. The following let-
ter of •tluanks for thq, last box was
received:
"Further to my recent letter to you
I -am now writing to let you know
that a perfectly wonderful parcel of
all sorts of lovely food' has arrived,
and was received by the W.V,S, (Wo-
nren's Voluntary Services) office at
Droylesden, Lancashire,
"We told them that the parcel was

whom they gave it. As. it was such
an enormous parcel they felt it was
quite enough' for three families, and
therefore they distributed, the con-

Church of England worker with a
very cheerful disposition and has a
very frail wife who wheels him in a
wheel chair, Mr. Hampson, 80 Clough
Rd., Droylsden: Alt ex -service man
with spinal trouble—termed paraple-
gic. He gets about by trapeze wires
and ropes about the house. He is
young with a very patient wife and
one child.
"These people are all very sad cas-
es and in need of a little help, and I
know they will be extremely grateful
for your food parcel. I feel sure they
wilt write you direct, but in the
• meantime we would like to send you
our sindere and grateful thanks on
their behalf, for your kind gesture,
which is very much appreciated by
us sill,"
The letter was signed "Yours sin-
cerely, Dlsa Dunbar, head of Empire
and Foreign Department"
Contests were conducted by Mrs.
Norman Baird, Mrs. Vic Taylor and
Mrs. Fred Robinson. The next meet-
ing is to be held at the home of Mrs,
Frank McCowan with the roll calf "A
Bit of Spice."

OBITUARY
ALBERT A. HILL
•. Word has been received of the
death in Edmonton, Alta. of Albert
A. (Bert) Hill, on Wednesday, Au-
gust
ugust 6.
Deceased left"for• his office as usual
an the morning and was stricken with
a sudden heart sateen and passed
away immediately.
Mr. Hill will be remembered by
many in town as he was prominent
in the work of St. Paul's Anglican
Church and was also leader of the
Citizens' Band when it re -organized
40 yeans ago. While here .he nomas em-
ployed' as a bookkeeper in the piano
factory.
Surviving are his wife, Eunice, and.
c•ne daughter, Mrs Norman Duncan,
and two grandchildren. Mrs, Frank
Andrews, Clinton, is a sister. Two

Funeral services were held Satur-
day, August 9, from the Beattie Fu
neral Home, Rattenbury St. E., CIiii-
ton, for Margaret J. Hudie, beloved
wife ,of the late John Hudie. Rev. L.
Morgan officiated and interment fol-
lowed in Bayfield cemetery. Pall-
bearers were John Campbell, Hugh
Campbell, Archie Campbell, Burl
Brewer, Lorne Churchill •and Harvey
Hudie. (Flower bearers were Fred and
Gordon MacDonald, Gordon, Allan and
Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Parry, London
Road, and also called on a few odd
friends.
Mr. and ,Mrs. H. M. Whitmore and
daughter, Mary, Hamilton, are visit-
ing with Mr. and Mit.. Ray Whitmore
and other 8piends and relatives in this
vioinaty.
Mr. and 'Mrs. Jack Hamden and sons
Jack and Bruce, Hamilton, visited
last week with ilia. and Mrs. Arthur
