Very Successful Picnic
The' annual S.& and Congregation-
al picnic of Ontario St. United church
was held on Wednesday, July 30, at
Harbour Park, Goderieh, with a
splendid attendance.
A .programme of sports, under the
direction of Rev. W. J. Woolfrey
and his committee, was very much
enjoyed by young and old.

ABEL -CAMPBELL

Keen United Church, Auburn, was
the seene .of an attractive event on
Saturday afternoon, August 2, when
Jean Alberta, younger daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. W. Albert Campbell,
Auburn, was united in marriage to
Stanley James, :son of Mn, and Mrs.
Samuel W. Abel, St. Thomas, Rev.
Al. G. Hewitt performed the eere

with white hydrangea, blue delphin-
ium, pink roses and other flowers,.

The traditional wedding music was.
played by Miss Vivian Straughan,
;while the guest •soloist, Mrs. Em-
merson Rodger, sang "I'll walk be
side you," :during the signing of the
register.
The bride entered the church on
the arm of her father and was pre-
ceded down the aisle by bet sister,
Mrs. Arthur Spiegelberg, Waterloo,
as .matron . of honour, and Miss
Maureen Knox, Limerick, Sask., as
bridesmaid.
The groom was supported by
Leonard Thompson, Kitchener, as
best many while ushering the guests
were brothers of the bride and
groom, Donald Campbell, Port Dal-
bomsie, and Lawrence Abel, St.
Thomas.
The bride was gowned in white
nylon marquisette, embossed with
lily -of -the -valley and lovers knots
over taffeta, fashioned with portrait
neckline, short puffed seleves, tight
bodice with full skirt caught at the
hipline.
The headdress was composed of a
bandeau of silk net petals, with
wreath of orange blossoms. The lcmg
embroidered circular veil ended in a
-chert train. She .carried_ a shower
bouquet of Briiarcliffe crises, set in
cream gladioli, and streamers of
white carnations. The matron of
honour and bridesmaid wore pastel
green nylon •organza and paste] pink
nylon organza respectively, embos-
sed with colored flowers offset with
picture hats and elbow mitts of self
material. They carried bouquets of
pink carnations and yellow gladioli.
A reception followed at Riverdale
Farm, the 'home of her heather, K.
B. Campbell and Mrs. Campbell. The
bride's mother received wearing a
black and white jersey dress, with
black and white accessories and cor-
sage of pink and white carnations.
The buffet luncheon was served by
girl friends of the bride, the table
being centred by the wedding cake
and pink tapers. Other decorations
were in pink and white. The toast
to the bride and groom was given by
Rev. A. G. Hewittand was respond-
ed to by the groom.
Mr. and Mrs. Abel left for Mus-
koka and other pointe in Northern
Ontario, the bride travelling in a
powder blue suit, .cherry red shortie
1 coat, with black and blue accessories.

Given in marriage by her father,
the bride was lovely in a gown of
ivory satin fashioned with full skrt
and fitted bodice. Her veil of ean-
brobderecl net was caught with or-
ange blossoms and she carried Am-
erican Beauty :roses and wore the
groom's gift, a gold brooch.
Mmes Peel Cann, maid of honor,
wore a gown of pink taffeta with
matelring bandeau and carried, a nose-,
gay of roses. The ibridesmaide, Miss
Jenny Jolly, in powder .blue net, and
Miss 4VNarion Triebner, in yellow silk,
wore matching flower headdresses
and carried .nosegays of harmonizing
flowers.'
Harold Jolly, Toronto, was his
brother's groomsman, and ,Stbewart
send Gordon Triebner, brothers of the
bride, were ushers.
During the signing of the register;
Mrs. Durand sang "The Wedding
Prayer"
A reception was held :at Central
Hotel, Exeter. Mr. and Mrs. Jolly
Left for eastern points, the bride
changing to an Alice blue silk crepe
dress wi'bhaccessories in white. They
will reside near -Clinton.

The lovely lawn of Mrs. Annie
Saundbreock, Hensall, was the set-
ting Saturday, tAiogust 2, at high
noon for a charming summer wed-
ding when her youngest daughter,
June Marcella, became the bride of
Radford Willard Donaldson, London,
son of Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Donaldson,
London. The ceremony was perform-
ed by Rev. R. A, Brook under an
arch of red •roses and evergreens
with baskets of white hydrangeas
completing the • floral decoration.
Miss Gladys Luker, Hensall, played
the bridal music, and the soloist,
Mas. W. A. dltacLaren, Goderieh,
sang "0 Promise Me" and "At
Dawning." 'Mise Luker was her ac-
companist. •
Given in marriage by her 'broth-
er, George ',•Samitteroock, Windsor,
the bride was loktely, in a floor - length
gown of white satin with short train,
sweetheart neckline, long sleeves
tapering to a point over the hand.
.Her finger-tip vein fell from a
sweetheart headdress and her bridal
bouquet was American beauty roses.
She wore a strand of pearls, gift
of the groom
Gladys Smith, Montreal, was her
sister's matron of honor, costumed
in blue jersey, floor -length, with
nylon marquisette yoke, long puffed
sleeves. The shoulder -length veil
fell from a sweetheart headdress and
she carried a bouquet of yellow
roses.
Georgina Donaldson, London, niece
of the groom, was dainty little flow-
er girl fronked in a fl000r length
gown of yellow ,taffeta with match-
ing sweetheart .headdress. She car-
ried a Colonial bouquet -of roses.
Alfred Pearson, Toronto, attended
the groom.
A buffet luncheon was served on
the lawn to 60 guests, Mrs. Saunder-
coak receiving wearing a navy blue
dress with .matching accessories,
Mrs. Donaldson assisted, wearing' a
mauve dress with accessories to
match._ Both wore corsages of red
roses.
The bride's table was centred by
the wedding sake, while pink tapers
in silver 'holders added to the ef-
fectiveness. of hte decorations. Serv-
ing were iMissee Lois and Marion
MacLaren, Goderi'eh; Misses Mary
Goodwin, Betty and ,Corrine Smile,
Hensel". ,Pouring tea were Mrs. R.
Russell, Eketerand Miss ' M. Ellis,

For their wedding trip, to Crystal
Bosch and Buffalo, N.Y., the bride
donned a navy nylon marquisette en-
seeable with accessories' in navvy. Mr.,
and Mss. Donaldson will reside on'

LOBB REUNION
A picnic of interest was dield at
the .home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert
Lobb on the 1611h of Goderioh Town-.
ship on Jmly 19. 'Phase Intending
were the !descendants of the late
George and Mary Leine who lived
90 years ago on . the Maitland C'on-
cessin. Their' homestead was re-
cently purchaved by their grandson,
Bert Lobb, from Ernie Little.
Their famillyt of three sons and
two daughters, were widely scattered
rn mature life, Thomas Lobb set-
tled in Vancouver, B.C'., Hannah in
California, Joe and Keziah in Michi-
gan and William spent his whole life
farming in Goderieh Township,
About 60 relatvies were present
among whom were ,Mr, and Mrs.
Wilfrid Lobb, their family and four
grandchildren Flint, Mich., . Mrs.
Warren Lobb, +Mission, Rs -et .5175.

Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Lobb, Mr. end

At this gathering a re -union ,for
dze -with 1948 was organized wa Wilfrid
Lobb, Flint,' named president, and
Dick Lobb, secretary.
A bountiful picnic sapper .was
partaken of. Needless to say a good
time was had by all with ball games,
sports and contests. A Lobb male
quartette from Flint favoured with
music and Mrs. Warren Lobb, B.C.,
sang a ,Scotch sole. Mrs. G. Hender-
son read regrets from ,some who
were µsable to be present. Before
dispersing a hearty vote of thanks
was tendered Mr. and Mrs. B. Lobb
for their hospitality.
TWO MEN INJURED
• o EAFCRTH — Harold Lawrence
and John Pethick, had a narrow
escape from serious injuries when
the seaffolding on which they were
working collapsed. They were thrown
to the ground a distance of about
14 feet. The men were engaged in
shingling the roof of a house owned
by Noanran Sanderson.
