Knox AVMS Meets
The WMS of Knox Presbyterian
-Church met at the old Thomson
home now occupied by Mrs. Gorrioch
and Mrs. Bishop on Thursday after-
noon last. There was a large at-
tendanceincludinmg the pastor, Rev.
D. J. Lane and Mrs. Lane, besides
a number of summer visitors. IVIrs.
Bishop gave a most interesting talk
on Palestine where she had spent
several months. At the close of the
meeting the hostesses served tea and
a pleasant social hour was enjoyed
by all.
Supper Well Attended
There was a 'large attendance at
the salad prate supper given under
the auspices of Trinity Church
Guild .on Thursday on the spacious
Lawn at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
J. H. Lambert. Beautiful flowers
decorated the tables. The Lemon
Tree, in charge of Miss L. Morley
and Mrs. R. H. P. Gairdner, was a
great attraction, especially for the
children. Miss Berthena Sturgeon
was at the gate, Mrs. Lloyd Scotch-
tner was convener for the supper
and other Guild members wer assist -
d by visitors in the serving,

"Teen Agers" at Church
• A number of those who are in
the "Teen-age" group at the Huron
Church camp attended service at
Trinity Cimreh on Sunday morning..
The choir was composed of a grow
of girl's who led the singing. Dur-
ing
the offertory they sang a two-
part anthem "Unto the Hills." They
were in charge of the Dean of the
camp, Rev. E F. Bishop., Church of
the Holy 'Saviour, Waterloo. The
Rector, Rev. L..TIVlorgan, preached' a
stirring seivnon, basing his remarks
on Gen. 28, verse 12: "And he dream-
ed, and behold a ladder eet up on
earth, and the top of it reached to
heaven," air whibh he Iikened the
desire to pray to the first rung of
the ladder and traced the progres•
sive development of prayer life to
the top of the ladder where the in-
dividual asks not for things for
himself or 'herself, but leaves the
problem and desires in the hands of

Community Club Meets
Porter's, Hill Community Club held
its July meeting on Wednesday af-
ternoon, July Id, at the 'hone of
Mrs. Jahn McGuire, with 25 ladies
present. A lovely Dresden -plate quilt
was partly quilted, after which the
president, .Mrs. John Terrance, open-
ed the meeting with the singing of
"Some ,Folks Like to .Smile," etc.,
followed by all repeating the Lord's
Prayer. :Mrs. George Greenslade read' -
the misisites of dash meeting. Mis.
Bert Harris gave the financial re-
port. Several new members were
reported.-
A lively discussion was held re•
gardng the bake .sale to he held in
Bayfield', August 9. Announcement
will be made later. Anyone inter-
ested is asked to help with baking,
vegetables, fruit or rwhathave-you.
Mrs. McGuire and daughter served a
very delicious lunch. The August
meeting is to be held et Mrs, James-
Cox' home.
Mae. Fred. Reid returned recently
from a trip through the West.
Miss Grace Taylor, Detroit Mich.,
is visiting friends in the community.
Misses Roxy- and Adeline Palmer
were guests of ,Miss Gertrude Reid
over the weekend.

cousin, J. K. Morrison, Barrie, on
Monday.
