Huron Juniors Make
Showing at Field Day
Approximately 140 Junior Farm-
ers from Huron County attended the
Western Ontario Junior Farmers
.Field Day at Guelph.. Among the
otherevents participated in were
the Boys' and Girls' Softball. Tourma-
mente.
The Girls' Sof4bali Team, repre-
sented by Brussels Ladies, were vic-
torious in capttunng the Junior Farm-
ers Trophy. On their road to the
'Championship they eliminated teams
from Oxfords, Norfolk, Brant and
Perth 'Counties'. The final game with
Perth proved most interesting, the
score reading 7-6 in favour of the
Huron •Girls.
Huron also had entries in the
standard events. Grace Lobb, Clin-
ton, placed second in the Girl's' Run -
ming Bread Jump.
The Boys? Softball team, repre-
sented by an all-star team from
Bli ith, Clinton, and South Huron
Clubs) eliminated Grey in the first
round) but were defeated by North
Sihncoe in the next round.
All in all, Huron •County Juniors
enjoyed themselves immensely and
for the tirst time in competition of
this kind, brought honour to he
County by the Girls' .Softball title.

BOWLING BITS

The members of the Ladies' Lawn
Bawling Club spent a very enjoyable
afternoon on Wednesday last when a
social jitney was held. Prize win-
ners were Mr's. • J. Innes, Mrs. C.W.
Draper, Mrs. E. Rozeld and Mrs. S.
Castle.
The most successful mixed jitney
of the season was held on Friday
evening with 36 members present. A.
Matthews, A. D. MoCartney, Misses
R. V. Irwin and Eileen. Sutter, were
the prize winners.
The Gents' Lawn Bowling Club
will sponsor a mixed jitney on Thurs-
day, July 10. All members are ask-
ed to be present and support the
local club. Come one!!! Come all!!!

Fractures His Leg
Everett "Do" I{ersiake, Cromarty,
catcher for the Staffa Ball team.
had the misfortune to fracture his
leg in two places at a recent ball •game
in the Huron Pertly Baseball League
held at .Staffa, between 112itebell and
Staffs. Everett was running to
second base when a player in the
Mitchell team collided with him with
the result his leg was doubled under
and the fracture resulted.

The annual Lear Lyon picnic was
held at the home .of William Hunk-
ing, Township, on Saturday,
June 28, with 115`• present. There
was a spienclid list of races, and
suitable prizes ,given; for each.

school. After all had partaken of a
bountifue supper Iprovided byl the
ladies, and ice creamy and dhocolate
milk sneeplied by the trustees, the
evening was spent playing ball, pea -
mut scramble and races, for which
prizes wore given. A tug-of-war for
both ladies and men. The evening
closed by singing National Anthem.
A goodly number from this com-
munity attended the Cox picnic in
Harbor Park, Goderioh, It was an
ideal day for a picnic.
