W.A. Meets
Varna WA held its May meeting
ie the Township Hall in the fosnn of
a quiltingbee Twenty-six ladies were
present. The president, Mrs. Ernie'
McGlinchey, • opened the devotional
part of the meeting. The theme song
was suing after which Mrs. E. Me-
Clinclsey read "My ,Daily' Prayer."
Mrs. Will ,Stephenson then took
charge of the devotional. Mrs, •George

Milburn anniversary services will
be held on June 15. Rev. R, G.
Hazlewood, Walton, will be the guest
preacher. There will be no service
in Londesboro United Church. All
are invited to attend the service at

Ladies' Club Meets
Tuckcrsmitit Ladies' Club will hold
its next meeting on June 11, at the
home of Mas. Howard Jnhns, with
group No. 4 in charge. Roll call will
be "What I like and dislike most
about the country." airs. Fear will
speak on the advantages of living
in town.
Those unable to be present at this
meeting are asked to send their
names if they wish to become mem-
bers of Huron County's Co -Operative
Medical Service, as this will be de-
cided at .the meeting.
S.S. No. 1 Party
S.S. No. 1 Tuckersmibh held their
Annual section paaty in the school
house. Bob Bell acted as chairman
for the following .programme by the
pupils of the school: choruses by the
school; duett -by Cecil Pepper and
George Parker; these numbers ac-
companied by the rhythm hand.
The Junior Red Cross report was
read by Cecil Pepper. Although there
are only tens pupils, contributionswere
sent •to the Crippled Ohilds'en, Navy
League and Chinese children's fund.

bought for the school for use in ease
of illness.

the social activities of the year and
introduced the operetta, "Goldilocks."
Greta Pfaff played the lead, support-
ed by Marian Pepper, Bobbie Clark,
Gerald Bell, Joyce Pfaff, Jimmie Bell
and 'Ken Parker. Bob Bell, Cecil
Pepper, and George Parker 'acted as
chorus. The chief prop for the play,
the House built by Grade IV was
much admired. in its garden setting
of apple blossoms. Readings were
given by Cecil Pepper. Bob Bell,
Jimmie Bell, Joyce Pfaff, George
Parker, Gerald Bell and Marion
Pepper.
Variety to these were afforded• by
the following musical numbers:
choruses by the .boys and girls eharus,
solos Joyce Pfaff, and Ken Parker.
A patriotic note was struck by the
choral readings "Big Streamers" by
the school .and "Britieli i'atnily" a
choral reading from the Empire Day
progranrnte by grades V and VI, This
part of the program closed with two
numbers by the Rhythm Band, with
a fold dance " by Joyce ' and Greta
Pfaff and Marian Pepper.
Harold Paiker, member of the
Tuokersmiat School Board, was
Chairman for the visitor's program.
He introduced Samuel Whitmore,
Seaforth, who held the interest of all
as he told of pioneer days .and ways

Ladies' Club Meets
After a lapse of several months
due to weather and road conditions,
the May meeting of the Stanley
Ladies' Cub was held at the 'home
of the president, Mrs. Roy Cantelon.
The meeting opened 'with the Lord's
Prayer in unison. This was followed
with the secretary's and treasurer's
reports. It was moved by Mrs. Jahn
McGregor and seconded by Mrs, Wil-
liam Sinclair that $86 be sent to
the Flood Victims in Engand.
The .programme consisted of a read-
ing by Mrs. Eddie Glen on the "Uses
of Salt," and a quizz contest by Miss
Bertha Diehl. The meeting closed by
singing God Save •the King.
The next meeting is to be held at
the home of .Mrs. Adan. Stewart and
the roll call is to be answered with
"Thinge I Don't Understand,"

and accompanied her home where ire
