Farmers -Attention
Does Lack of Money
Block Your Progress:
Sometimes (the very fact we lack
read cash seems to prevent us from
fulfilling plants_ that would bring in
more money --a sort of vicious circle.
And, so, many a farmer postpones
plans for making his farm more pro-
ductive, and more eonfortable.
Nearly every farmer realizes the
benefits that can come from money
spent in livestock for improving the
herd, better drainage systems, ,mod-
ern electric aids, and new agricul-
tural equipment and machinery. Wise
farmers also know that a shortage
of 'ready money need not prevent
them from ,sharing in these adrvant-
ages.
A visit to Mr. Robinson, local man-
ager of the Bank of Montreal, will
show you why. , A lour -,cost farm
improvement loan front the B of M
has helped many farmers to par -
chase the modern farm equipment
designed to increase production and
profits. In .many eases the increase
in profits has been used to repay
the loan.
Mr. Robinson will be glad to dis-
cuss your plans and financial require-
ments at any time. You will like his
abtitude that, "When you ask for a
loam at the B of NI, you do not ask
a favour," adv.22-b

ABOUT 1820 a mower was invented with
a circular cutting blade which revolved
against the grain, apparently imitating the
action of the old scythe blade.
A few years later a mower was invented
in the United States which had a sharp
knife with teeth moving sideways in a row
of iron fingers or guards. The first mower
of this type to be made in Canada was pro.
duced in '1852 at the Massey works, the
little plant which has grown into the
Massey -Harris industry of today. And all
through its 100 -year history this company
has been a leader i n developing labor-saving
farm devices.
The use of modern Massey -Harris farm
machines has brought many benefits to
Canadian farmers. The Massey -Harris Side
Rake aid Tedder turns the hay into light,
fluffy windrows, so the„air can cure it
quickly. The Massey -Harris Hay Loader
builds a load of well over a ton in twenty

minutes. The Massey -Harris Forage Har-
vester enables a fanner to cut hay at the
right time—providing nutritious forage for
livestock.
MasseyHarris machines mean speedy,
large-scale production, They have reduced
production costs per acre and have increased
the farmer's yearly profit.
Massey -Harris No. 6 Semi
mounted Tractor Mower ''

of tractor. Power take -off driven.

WANTED: A number of progressive farmers in Western
distracts who would like to set out a commercial block of
Red Raspberries, either for your local trade or for shipping
to recommended city dealers. Recent OOntario-Quebec pro-
duction figures, prices at 40-60c per quart and dealer reports
would ,indicate theist supplies everywhere.
To encourage a limited planting of new high • yielding
patches, a well known nursery is sending a special represen-
tative of many years experience in commercial production to
personallly interview and educate interested farmers in rasp-
berry culture. This should result in higher unit yields, longer
patch life, less •han cl labor and when translated into dollars
at ndrmal 'prices a relatively high ratio of profit is assured.
Because of the limited supply of good planting material,
bookings can only be made far FALL PLANTING 1947, limited
to one acre.
If
genuinely- interested in berry growing as a sideline to
farming, write Box 457, Crampbellford, Ontario, on or before
June 10th, giving location of your farm. Our' specialist will tail
later and competely analyze the business, soil "requirements and
preparation, up-to-date cunt -Mal practices, home markets and
surplus shipping, cost of planting, estimated yields and profits
per'acre. Late ,replies cannot be covered.
