In those words is' contained the liundamental source of, our Christian religion. Christ died for us and if we place our trust in Him nothing that can 4iaapee to us van take away the assurance we have echat Ho loves se and that His ?Sacrifice made So many many years• ago was for use as well as for those who: were tieing at that time. There are many books written o ``Trust" but it .is only when we Imo in our own hearts just what it mean to us individually that we veeli just how necessary it is, Ear us build that ilittle fence of trust raved each day as we enter upon i In these days of'difficulty in s curing building material of ail kind we are thankful that'this, fence doe not need to be made of earthly woo wire and nails. All that it is necess cry for us to do is just to make 4h connection of prayer each mornin between car Satviour and ourselves. In the terrible stories which bay come' to us from the German an Japanese concentration camps iv know that if a prisoner tried to es cape and got beyond the ,paling of tit camp their lot was indeed very ve difficult, There was no mercy fo them, so it is with ons. If we leave th enclosure which its boarded in b trust ands go out into the world Cher is no real help for us, whereas if w stay in the little peat of our weal which is lovingly ruled over by God His sustaining power will always, umder every chicumstanee be our al sufficient aid. At a dark time dowing the Amer - lean Givil War Govenar Yates in a despondent mood wrote 'to President Lincoln telling hem of his almost oveewhelnning datfieulties. Lincoln's brief reply was "Dick, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord" Many times we are not willing to stand God.still. We take our problem to God. lie knows all about it, yet we at great length explain it to Him, ask Rio to lead us in the walk Ile "wants us to go then we .immediately start off and try to remedy things oursel- ves. Why do we take our troubles to God if we are not willing to let Him use His own will in connection with them? It 5s true we want to help, but if we leave things in God's hands and He wants our 'assistance He will direct us in What we should do. Our part is to be ready to obey His com- mands. So often we have our own idea of how eve want things to be done and our ideas and those of God are not always the same. It is a great 'consolation to us when we have taken our problems to Jesus to conic away leaving them there knowing that if they do not work out the way we would want them to that it is the way God wants them and /,hat is best for us. God's way is always best. We are usually in such a hurry to do something which we think in our finite minds will help, where as God, in His all wise judgment wants us just to be still and trust Him to do what is best for us. God expects us to have full confidence in Him, At times we think God has little interest in us, we Feel that our pray- ers are leaving no avail. ]foes it ever occur to us that 'we ourselves are to blame. Maybe we are going directly contrary to what' we know are His wishes and He has to deal very stern - ley with us before we realize that He knows best. We never pray, hi faith believing, that God does not answer us but there are times when God is silent and we feel that He is riot heeding our call. If we are true 'Chr- istians we know that such is not the ease. Let us trust Him and His an- swer will come in His own good time and in His way ]which is always best. In order to trust in God we mast believe in .Him. Ff that wonderful verse John 3:16 is really the found- ation of our faith then we know that the God en whom we trust is our very awn. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that who- soever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life." No message can mean more to us than that verse and salvation there in contained is ours just for the ask- ing. The difficulty is that we will not take it and thus we lose the great- en joy et ear Lives. Jesus wants us to build a fence of trust around to -day. Yesterday hasgone and to -morrow is not ours, but we need (to trust Him for to -day. We have no idea what a change there will o be in even ,our' own household .before the day ,'Inas passed. One who is dear to us may have been suddenlyeealled hpine. We do not, know the reason why, bet we do know God never makes a mistake At that time we indeed need eo trust God. Only those who have had a sudden shock like that have any idea what it means to have a Saviour to whom to go when suoha trial comes into their lives. There are many each incidents of one kind and another, but oh, the joy which comes to us, When we have prayed to God and even 5S ourourprayers have not beet answered ,as, eve would wish we have been able to •say "God did not want this to he answered:answered:as I would wish, but Has will sot mine be done". When we trust Flim we are glad to say that and we can say with alleonfid epee that had our.prayer been an- swered as we requested 5t would not have been best for us. We may be tried until we are driven to our knees acknowledging Him as our Saviour, but His cause must and will conquer. God has never forsaken us and He never will as long as we cling to Him. He will give us the comfort we re- quire at all times He has His own reason for 'sending .trials to us. At times it seems as though a cloud has settled down on us, but there is never a cloud dark or light .but that God is in it and no matter how dark the Cloud may be there is always a silver lining to it. Those who have soared above the clouds have given us the most wonderful descriptions of the beauty of She eloud's which are heavy with rain but the 'uppper surface is always bright and shining.
