Varna and Brumfield, Tuesday night, Feb. 11. The game resulted in a victory for Varna. e Schools Re -open There is not anueh doing in and around the village these clays. Owing to Stormy weather and snow -bound roads, country schools have been closed. and the High School bus was unable to transfer the students to and from Clinton. There was no train on 'CNR, Loudon to Clinton, from Saturday until Wednesday. However schools re -opened Wednes- day morning, and buses are now on the highway. W.A. and W.M.S. Meet The WA and W315 both held their meetings Feb. 11, at the churoh. There was not a large attendance. Mrs. W. ltteBeath, president of WA, conducted the meeting. The WA do- nated a nice sura of money to the managers of the church to be used for running expenses. ' ' Teachers Return' Miss McLenaghan, teacher at No. 10,. who ,has been storm -stayed at her home near Belgrave, returned to her duties Wednesday morning. Fire Extinguished A atpark from a coal stove ignited gas in a large pan which was used for washingparts caught fire in Tom Johneton's garage on Saturday. A car which was in the garage at the time was :shoved to safety by men. Mr. Johnston received burns on his hand. The fire was put out by_ chemicals. Grateful to Hydro The citizens of the village and community are deeply grateful to the gang of workmen of the Renal Hydho, Clinton, who walked a distance of six miles over heavy roads on Monday to repair the hydro east of Carlow. Congregational Meeting The annual meeting of Knox Pres- byterian Church was held in the Sim - day 'School room on Tuesday. Rev. Robert <Macconnell was chairman and opened the meeting with a hymn, Scripture reading and prayer. Mr. J. C. Stoltz was appointed secretary of the meeting. The treas- urer of the church, Mrs. Fred Ross, presented her report revealing a healthy situation and a substantial balance on hand. The report of the WMS presented by Mrs. Ross and that of the Ladies Aid presented by Mrs. Edgar Lawson revealed a year of splendid achievement by both cone grcgations.
