COUNTY JUDGING
CONTEST AT ROYAL
South Slincoe won the Jeffrey Bull
liMemorial 'Trophy for intercounty
competition, the major event in Mon-
day junior farmer judging contest at
the Royal Winter • Fair, Toronto.
Ross Beattie and. Jack Walker,
Stayier and Prank Todd, Gilford,
, comprised the winning team, which
placed first of the 34 entries. F. A.
Lashley and D. A. Taylor coached
the ',South ISimcoe trio.
Lloyd yre, Hampton, qualified for
two gold medals in the individual
judging competition. He could ac-
cept only one and took the swine -
judging medal.
Other Winners
Other gold medal winners in the
judging contest were: Ross Beattie,
Staynert •beef cattle; Glen Grim Mel-
ton, dairy cattle, and Bruce Reid,
Georgetown, sheep.
The Robert Graham Memorial
Trophy for judging two classesA of
heavy horses and two classes of light
horses was won thy A. I. Aitken, On-
tario Agricultural College, Guelph,

with a score of 69 out of 800.
The E. 11. ,Stonehouse Memorial
Trophy for dairy e-attle judging went
to Glen Grice, Mallon, Who sailed
1,797 out of 2,000. The ten first
teams in the intercounty competition
placed in the following order: Siancoe
,Sonth, Durham, Halton, MicldleSey,
Glengarry, Peel, Carleton, Lincoln,
Oxford and Wentworth.
Huron County was represented by
Elston ,Speiran, Brussels; Allen Wol-
per, R.R. 3, Parkhill; Murray Roy,
Londesboro, and Richard G. Leggett";
R.E. 8, Blyth (spare).
Dinner at Coliseum
Judges and contestants attended a
dinner Monday night in the Coliseum
at which the prizes were •presented
by ,Col. Bartle Bull, L. E. O'Neil and
J. A. Aird. Provincial Deputy Min-
ister C. D. Graham • was the chief
speaker.
SET NOMINATIONS ,
BRUSSELS — The village council
has fixed Monday, November 26, as
nomination day, and Monday, Decem-
ber 9, as election day.
PORTER'S HILL
Mr. and Mrs. James Lockhart spent
Remembrance Day in Clinton with
their son, Glen and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Ivison Torrance have
returned from their honeymoon in
New York. We were pleased to have
them at church Sunday.
Mrs. John McGuire who has been
ill in Clinton Public Hospital is ex-
pected home. We trust she will be
much improved in health following
her. operation.
The Community Club held a euchre
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George
Greenslade Friday evening, 12 tables
playingwhile quite a few sat round
and enjoyed a chat. A lovely lunch
was served and all report a very
pleasant evening.
W.A. Holds Meeting
The W.A. meeting held last Thurs-
day at the home of Mrs. Vic Elliott
was very well attended. Most of the
afternoon was spent quilting. Rev.

Master Gordon Tyndall spent a
few days with Mr. and Mrs. Edgar
Rathwell. •

Farm Forum Meets
The S.S. No. 4 Farm Forum met
Monday night, at the home of MT.
and Mrs -.Irvine Tebbutt, with 14
members present. This was review
mght and a- good discussion was held
on "The Question for Discussion,"
with Irvine Tebbuttas chairman.
For the recreation period, croldnole
was played, and the ladies served
The meeting next week will be held
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Lobb. The recreation will be in
charge of W. Biggin and I. Merrill.

F. G. Stotesbury conducted the de-
votional part of the meeting, while
the president, Mrs. Les. Cox conduct-
ed the business. It Was decided to
hold the crokinole party in the base-
ment of Grace ,Church Tuesday even-
ing, November 26. Everyone is in-
vited to come and enjoy the evening.
Lunch will be served. .A. silver col-
leetion will be taken. The annual
meeting wil be held at the home of
Mrs. John Torrance December 12. A
full attendanceis asked for at this
meeting as there are plans to be dis-
cussed. Anyone having mite boxes
are asked to bring them.
