New Park Opened
The new park was ,openea Wednes-
day evening last. A crowd of more
than 2,000 people saw the official
ceremonies and watched London Sap-
phires defeat Stratford Kroehlers
10-6 in an exciting softball game.
Umpires were Hugh Hawkins and
.Bert White, both of Cliartoe.,
Warden R. E. Shaddick, Reeve of
Hensall, declared the park open and
pointed out that it was the first
floodlit ball park in the county. Mrs.
George Smale, Hensall, held the
lucky ticket in a raffle, winning a
pressure cooker. The ticket was sold

on Monday night. Forty rinks were

The citizens of Walkerton were
out en masse on Monday night be
welcome home the victorious juvenile
hardball team. When they defeated
Elora 6-3 in the second in a two out
of three series played in Mora Mon-
day evening, they won the WOAA
championship. They previously had
eliminated Goderich in two of three
games—losing the first at Goderich
15-2, and winning the foeeond at
Walkerton, 9-8 and the third at Luck -
now 6-5.
