Stirling re- ceived the sad news that their grand- son's wife, Mrs. Clayton Bailey, Amherstburg, died very suddenly on Thursday.., Mr, and Mrs. A. W. Hayman, Lon- don, spent the weekend at Bayfiela Highlands, where they will spend the summer. They were accompanied by their daughter, Mary; her husband, Major Archer and children; also Ruth, John who will graduate with the class of '46 from University of Western Ontario, and James. Goderich Township Softball is plan- ning an oldtime dance in Bayfield Pavilion Easter Monday evening, (See advertisement elsewhere on this page) A very successful dance was held in S. S. No. 11 last Friday evening sponsored by the Red Cross, The entire proceeds were donated to the Cancer Fund. Softball Officers Named Goderich Township Softball As- sociation met on Aipril 5 in the Orange Hall to organize and appoint officers for the season. Officers elected were: President, Allan Betties; secretary, Alvin Proctor; chairman of finance, Fred Bell; manager, , senior boys' team, Bert Harris; junior boys' team, Vic. Falconer; senior girls: team, Gordon Orr;'junior girls' team, Austin Fuller. Easom Family Honored Mr. and Mrs. Roan Easom and daughters, Joanne and Marlene, Aub- urn, entertained a Iarge number of their former neighbors and friends of Goderich Township, when they canne to say farewell. Mr. and Mrs. Easom were presented with two very lovely matching end tables, with which Roy and Grace were very pleased and .thanked their friends in their own charming way. An approp- riate address was read by Irvine Teb- butt. It was signed by Mrs. Fred Lobb and Mrs. Stewart Farquhar, in behalf of friends of the 16th and Maitland concessions of Goderich Township. The happy gathering chatted and played games of all kinds together, while the little clock on the wall merrily ticked the time away. A sumptuous lunch was served. ' The Woman's Association also pre- sented Mrs. Easom with a very at- tractive table reflector adorned with ornaments. Mrs. Easom said the above gifts would always have a very special place and meaning in their home. TUCKERSMITH Alex. Reorganize Federation A meeting to reorganize Tucker- <nith Township Branch of the Huron Temperance Federation will be held in the United Church, Brucefield, on Wednesday, April 24. at 8 p in. No report of this is at hand. Presented With Blanket Mr. and Mrs. h B. Lockhart were presented with a lovely wool blanket rom Porter's Hill Red Cross Unit on riday evening. Ivan and Mrs. Lock- hart were pleased with the gift, and wish to thank those responsible for their thoughtfulness. The gift is much appreciated. The five boys from here, who served overseas each re- ceived a blanket. To Open Sunday School A very good attendance was at Grace Church Sunday, when Rev. F. G. Stotesburyn delivered a splendid sermon. Following the service, a. meeting was held to make arrange- ments to open the Sunday School. Announcements as to this will be made later, A special Sunday school offering is asked on Sunday, April 28, to get supplies. On Easter Sun- day an Easter Thankoffering is re- quested. W. A. Plan Bazaar The April meeting of the W, A. was held at the home of the presi- dent, Mrs. Les Cox, with 15 ladies present. A quilt was partly quilted, after which the meeting opened with the singing of a hymn. Mrs. A. Harris read the .Scripture lesson, followed by prayer, Eleanor Co'x read the minutes of last meeting, which were adopted. Discussion took place on a bazaar later in the summer. Mrs. John Tor- rance and Eleanor Cox were appoint- ed to inquire as to a place to have the affair. The offering was taken. Lunch was served. The May meet- ing is to be at the hone of Mrs, J. Lockhart, Mr. and Mrs. I. B. Lockhart, who have been visiting the former's par- ents. Mr. and Mrs. James Lockhart, are spending this week in Toronto and other points. Many fine pieces of furniture includ- ing walnut, cherry and oak, were offered for sale and realized high prices. The property owned by George Hess was sold to A. Stirling re- ceived the sad news that their grand- son's wife, Mrs. Clayton Bailey, Amherstburg, died very suddenly on Thursday.., Mr, and Mrs. A. W. Hayman, Lon- don, spent the weekend at Bayfiela Highlands, where they will spend the summer. They were accompanied by their daughter, Mary; her husband, Major Archer and children; also Ruth, John who will graduate with the class of '46 from University of Western Ontario, and James. Goderich Township Softball is plan- ning an oldtime dance in Bayfield Pavilion Easter Monday evening, (See advertisement elsewhere on this page) A very successful dance was held in S. S. No. 11 last Friday evening sponsored by the Red Cross, The entire proceeds were donated to the Cancer Fund. Softball Officers Named Goderich Township Softball As- sociation met on Aipril 5 in the Orange Hall to organize and appoint officers for the season. Officers elected were: President, Allan Betties; secretary, Alvin Proctor; chairman of finance, Fred Bell; manager, , senior boys' team, Bert Harris; junior boys' team, Vic. Falconer; senior girls: team, Gordon Orr;'junior girls' team, Austin Fuller. Easom Family Honored Mr. and Mrs. Roan Easom and daughters, Joanne and Marlene, Aub- urn, entertained a Iarge number of their former neighbors and friends of Goderich Township, when they canne to say farewell. Mr. and Mrs. Easom were presented with two very lovely matching end tables, with which Roy and Grace were very pleased and .thanked their friends in their own charming way. An approp- riate address was read by Irvine Teb- butt. It was signed by Mrs. Fred Lobb and Mrs. Stewart Farquhar, in behalf of friends of the 16th and Maitland concessions of Goderich Township. The happy gathering chatted and played games of all kinds together, while the little clock on the wall merrily ticked the time away. A sumptuous lunch was served. ' The Woman's Association also pre- sented Mrs. Easom with a very at- tractive table reflector adorned with ornaments. The five boys from here, who served overseas each re- ceived a blanket. To Open Sunday School A very good attendance was at Grace Church Sunday, when Rev. F. G. Stotesburyn delivered a splendid sermon. Following the service, a. meeting was held to make arrange- ments to open the Sunday School. Announcements as to this will be made later, A special Sunday school offering is asked on Sunday, April 28, to get supplies. On Easter Sun- day an Easter Thankoffering is re- quested. W. A. Plan Bazaar The April meeting of the W, A. was held at the home of the presi- dent, Mrs. Les Cox, with 15 ladies present. A quilt was partly quilted, after which the meeting opened with the singing of a hymn. Mrs. A. Harris read the .Scripture lesson, followed by prayer, Eleanor Co'x read the minutes of last meeting, which were adopted. Discussion took place on a bazaar later in the summer. Mrs. John Tor- rance and Eleanor Cox were appoint- ed to inquire as to a place to have the affair. The offering was taken. Lunch was served. The May meet- ing is to be at the hone of Mrs, J. Lockhart, Mr. and Mrs. I. B. Lockhart, who have been visiting the former's par- ents. Mr. and Mrs. James Lockhart, are spending this week in Toronto and other points.
