Hockey. in Clinton, is .a thing of
the past for another year. Last Fri-
day night the localteam went down
to defeat at the hands of the strong
tendon Majors by a score of 5-4..
which was a much better indication I
of the relative merits of the teams
than the previous game which resulted
in a 7-4 win for London.
The game Friday night was any-
body's game right up to the final
gong, but it was evident from the
first that Clinton would have t9 per-
form a miracle to overcome a three
goal deficit and take the series. While
the local boys played a bang-up game,.
the efforts of .their long layoff was.
clearly evident in their passing plays
which just didn't click and very little
back -checking was done which gave
London several clear breakaways. The
London team looked better on their
passing plays and made no mistake
when they got the breaks, but on the
whole there was little to choose be-
tween the teams.
For London Andress, with two
goals, and George Robertson, Clark
and Wismer with one each were the
standouts, with Gil. Robertson, Ayres
and Fink also playing a good game.
Harry McEwan with his three goals
and Stade in goal were the choice of
the Clinton team. Frank McEwan and
Draper, who scored the final goal,
Bartliff who made several solo efforts
and Neilans and Colquhoun on de-
fence showed to good advantage.

Prior to the junior "G" game. at
Stratford. the Goderich management
notified Referee Bob McCully, Strat-
ford, that it was being played under
protest on the grounds that Port Col-
borne should be classified in a higher
category of the junior OHA ' com-
petition, according to population. It
was added that the protest was being
filed as a test case, but ` there is
practically no hope that the protest
will be upheld, because the 011A ex.
ecutive actually ranked the Port
borne team and naturally is not ex-
pected to alter their decision this
season at least.

``Glorious in Defeat"
Says Stratford Paper
Regarding Clinton Team
(By "Chick" Appel in Stratford,
Beacon -Herald)
Thirteen hundred hockeydes must
admit after London Majorbeat ,Clin-
ton Wearwells, 5-4, here Friday night,
to take round honors, 12.8, that the
better team won the'two-gamerseries
and are worthy opponents for 'Inger-
soll Hellcats in the intermediate B"
group finals. Clinton was always in
the ruining„ but while they grabbed
a one -goal margin on the game twice
they were unable to hold it, because
London had something in reserve and
was able to strike back •anc. even the
count. With the score tied at three
all,' to start the third period, Clinton
was forced to open up and that prov-
ed. fatal. for their cause, as Clarke
and Wismer broke away twice . early
in the frame and each scored, to give
the Mayors a two -goal margin. Even
thatsetback did not discourage Clin-
ton, because they fought back harder
than ever and dominated the play
thereafter and 'managed to score
once, but that was the best they could
do, as "Tubby" Jones in the London
net was on his best behaviour.
Hockey all the Way
The match was hard-fought but
clean, and the 1,300 fans enjoyed
every ininute of it. It was a bit
different than Stratford fans have
been accustomed to watching, al-
though the pace was not as fast as
they have seen, yet players on both
teams stuck to. 'hockey, and seldom
was there ams objectionable play,
practically all of the penalties com-
ing from accidental fouls. To the
credit of both teams it must be said
that they gave everything they had,
with Clinton just as glorious in de-
feat as they would have been in
victory.
It was not very difficult to single
out the Clinton stars, because Harry
McEwan with his three goals, and
Hal Stade in goal were easily the
pick for Clinton, with F. McEwan,
Neilans and Bartliff also deserving
mention.

GODERICH LIONS
NOW IN OMHA
JUVENILE FINALS
Goderich Lions are now in the
OMHA. Juvenile "B" finals, ready to
meet the winner of the Barrie-Peter-
boro series for the championship.. •
After taking the previous round
from Woodstock Stan Steel by 8-7.
having tied at Woodstock 4-4 and
won at Owen Sound Friday night 4-3,
the County Towners toppled Simcoe
juveniles 27-12 on the round. Goderich
won at Brantford by 9-5 Monday
night and at Stratford by 18-7 Tues-
day night. The latter match was
played as part of a douoleheader,
Port Colborne defeating Goderich
Juniors in the other half,.
Reports indicate that Lions were
jest as superior as the score would
indicate. Joe Murphy, coach of God-
erich ,juveniles. trotted out two front
lines that displayed the finest brand
of combination witnessed on Stratford
ice for years, which would put a lot
of teams to shame, while Westlake
and Needham proved a tower of
strength on the Goderich defence.
Only six penalties were handed -out
during the juvenile game as the
youngsters handed out clean but lusty
bodychecks. Opposing defencemen
were ever ready to send players fly-
ing as they neared the nets, and
bruising checks and tumbles seemed
to be taken as a matter of course
with no tempers being lost in the
battle.
1,518 CATTLE GET
'WARBLE TREATMENT
IN FIRST TWO DAYS
(Continued from Page One)
will be kept of the costs and results.
Successful in Alberta
The power spray method of treat-
ment has been tried successfully in
Alberta, and recently some tests were
made on farms in the Toronto area.
These tests have proven entirely satis-
factorily, and there are no signs of
fright in the cattle when the power
equipment is being used. Last week,
the whole herd of George Rodanz,
Stouffville, including his $51,000 herd
sire, was sprayed with the equipment
to be used in the Goderich demon-
stration.
This demonstartion has been or-
ganized to prove to the farmers that
the power spray method of application
of warble fly control is practical and
from ,it the Live Stock Branch hopes
to, be able to tell accurately what the
costs are, and what measure of con-
trol of infestation can be secured.
If it is as successful as antieipated,
farmers who have power -spraying
equipment would be in a position to
do spraying of cattle for warble fly
control as an off-season job, and thus
help to reduce infestation to a
minimum.
